The Global Risk Solutions (GRS) architecture team is looking for a Portfolio Architect. We are looking for a dynamic technical professional to drive the growth and maturity of the OneGRS API Enabled Insurance Platform. This platform is a cornerstone of our digital transformation strategy, positioning us as an industry leader in digital insurance enablement and innovation. It optimizes our business and technical investments by focusing on the discovery, design, and execution of globally available platform APIs, adapting to an evolving business landscape. You will define and drive the strategic direction of GRS API enablement, fostering a strong Product and Customer mindset, enabling the delivery of API Products across our platforms with opportunities for reuse across the Enterprise. You will contribute to EA patterns, establish and communicate north star strategies, enforce best practices, standardize tooling, and provide expert support for our C4E (Center For Enablement) and delivery teams.

Responsible for establishing and providing leadership to the technology strategy and technology roadmaps for the market portfolio or group of product lines. Works closely with Solutions Architects and the business on engineering choices and how they align to enterprise well-architected framework. Contributes to and maintains the enterprise methodologies and techniques, including standards and guidelines for enterprise wide use in technical management and systems of process development. Develops specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. Provides technical oversight and architecture solutions to large, strategic, complex system and application development projects, usually at the market portfolio level. Uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters. Recognized as an architecture thought leader within discipline who influences decisions made by senior leadership and advances the craft of architecture within our organization. Decisions influenced often affect a matrixed environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with business leadership to identify challenges and opportunities for technological innovation.
  • Establish a clear and consistent technology vision through collaboration and influence.
  • Responsible for the development of the north star architecture and actionable roadmaps for the API platform informed by business strategy and objectives.
  • Develop enterprise architecture design patterns, principles, and best practices to enhance platform delivery.
  • Foster a culture of standardization and transformation in architecture.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and benchmarks to assess the feasibility of architectural solutions.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly to a diverse range of audiences.
  • Build positive relationships with vendors and influencers within the enterprise to accelerate delivery.
  • Mentor architects, engineers, and senior leaders, inspiring senior technical contributors.
  • Stay informed about industry and enterprise initiatives to help product owners and IT leadership prioritize the platform vision.
  • Contributes to the development the technology strategy and technology roadmaps that enable the business, usually for a specific market portfolio.
  • Provides consultation and collaborates with product engineering teams, business partners and peer groups regarding long and short-range product features. Provides oversight at the market portfolio level influencing decision-making and prioritizing the business and architecture backlog for the aligned product and engineering functions.
  • Drive education of the Liberty Mutual Well Architected Framework and Enterprise Architecture Playbook Strategies across aligned Market
  • Leads portfolio management, strategy and change large scale composite initiatives influencing the way business is done, including technology and architecture. Develops and implements technical architecture for market/domain portfolio.
  • Influences and partners with the market leadership teams to align the technical design and strategy with the product roadmap.
  • Connects Business and Solution architecture with emerging technology to ensure sound roadmaps which deliver business value.
  • Responsible for prototyping complex, cross platform business solutions to validate newer technologies. Reviews and ensures major architectural designs are consistent, maintainable, flexible and cost-effective solutions. Participates with application and infrastructure design architects to provide guidance for development and releases.
  • Maintains collaborative and strategic partnerships between customers, vendors, business partners, and technology teams.
  • Shares expertise ensuring that teams are continuously improving and learning together to meet current and future engineering and architecture needs.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelors or Masters degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • 12-15+ years of related experience
  • Experience with various technical frameworks and platforms that are essential for designing, developing, and managing APIs including (not limited too):
    • OpenAPI Specification, RESTful Architecture, GraphQL, gRPC
    • ApigeeX, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management
    • OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JSON Web Tokens
    • Postman, Splunk, DataDog
  • Experience developing applications in cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure and/or GCP
  • Experience in a wide variety of data storage technologies, from RDBMS to NoSQL, Graph and object storage
  • Understanding of data security and data access controls and design aspects
  • Experience with gathering end user requirements and writing technical documentation leveraging frameworks such as TOGAF and/or C4 Modeling
  • Preferred experience with large-scale integration of leading Insurance SaaS platforms such as Guidewire, Majesco or Salesforce
