Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description
In this role you will have the unique opportunity to participate in, support and manage core bookclose responsibilities as part of the GRS Global Controllership team. You will collaborate with both Home Office and International teams across the organization and be a driver of key initiatives implementation. You will facilitate the monthly close process, provide guidance, advice, and support to ensure financial statements are complete, accurate and timely. You will independently plan and monitor close processes and support the analysis and reporting of results in a deadline focused environment. You will use increasing business acumen and analytical expertise to perform standard and ad-hoc financial analysis and effectively communicate the findings, insights, results and recommendations to management. You will also lead efforts to continuously improve processes to ensure work is performed in the fastest, most efficient means possible.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review standard processes for the Expense accounting bookclose including various ledger reconciliations, trend analysis, journal entries, ad-hoc requests, supplemental exhibits, attestation documentation, annual disclosures and key controls.
  • Understand and reconcile various financial accounting systems to ensure adherence to an internal control framework that ensures accurate and timely financial reporting. Makes recommendations to continuously improve the overall control environment.
  • Collaborate with various home office and international stakeholders to ensure financial results are complete, accurate and timely as well as facilitating the explanation of results to stakeholders and leadership. Identify improvement opportunities, share best practices and process efficiencies, develop understanding of expectations and requirements, assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Coach the team to assess the business value and efficiency of the work performed, identifying and implementing improvements. Initiates and/or leads increasingly complex projects and continuous improvement activities that may span beyond the scope of own team's responsibilities.
  • Understand the interdependencies and data flows of financial accounting and reporting systems, prioritizing and implementing enhancements and planning appropriately for changes. This includes overseeing a financial system, coordinating enhancements and assisting in resolving production problems
  • Provide sound financial advice to business partners or other departments, anticipating the financial impact of changes in the business environment and making recommendations to improve business outcomes
  • Foster the development of teammates by sharing expertise and experience through training or reviewing their work.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor`s degree (Finance or Accounting) required.
  • CPA or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of finance experience.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to drive results.
  • Communicates well with own team and across organizational boundaries to ensure the successful completion of shared goals.
  • Comfortable leading meetings and able to communicate issues and trends to senior management and other groups at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Solid understanding of Finance Tools and Analytical Methods.
