The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Description

Summary:

The Product Underwriting team in Small Commercial is responsible for developing and implementing underwriting strategies in support of the broader objectives of Small Commercial. The Assistant Director/Director, Product Analysis will work independently and in partnership with stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions that enhance our Commercial Auto product and enable profitable growth through continuously enhancing our underwriting ecosystem.

Responsibilities:
  • Leverage available data sources and insights; proactively identify opportunities to enhance underwriting capabilities and drive profitable growth
  • Utilize new technology including third party data to deliver a smarter quoting experience that enhances ease of use and underwriting sophistication
  • Work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across Small Commercial to clearly articulate strategies to senior leaders
  • Execute on broader strategic vision of Small Commercial by enabling growth in target segments while balancing the need to mitigate risk
  • Monitor changing market conditions and best-in-class competitor approaches to inform our strategic direction
  • Ensure a clear and easy to understand appetite that communicates what we want to write and what we don't
  • Provide subject matter expertise and support to teams across Small Commercial
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience developing strategies
  • A proactive leadership style
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with commercial auto products
  • Experience using PowerPoint and Excel
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or other quantitative field. 6 years, typically 8 years or more relevant work experience, typically 8 years. Master's degree beneficial.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (e.g., SAS, Access).
  • Must have good planning, organization, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Experience directly managing others preferred.
  • Excellent analytic, quantitative and problem-solving skills with proven ability to make and execute data driven decisions.
  • Advanced knowledge of product offerings, business processes, product line systems, underwriting rules, pricing plans and databases.
  • Strong understanding of insurance concepts and financial metrics.
