The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
The US Retail Markets Data Science Telematics Pricing Model Development Team is seeking an experienced and passionate manager to lead our team of data scientists in the development, build, and implementation of telematics pricing models. We are looking for a strong communicator with a deep understanding of model development, application, and implementation who will be capable of coaching and guiding analysts to become exceptional modelers. This position will play a key role in the rapid expansion of our organization's telematics pricing capabilities across the US.

The successful candidate will know how to build and evaluate models (especially those used for pricing), understand business goals and strategy, create clarity for their team and stakeholders, and lead with empathy. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a team culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
This position may have in-office requirements based on candidate location.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of 4-5 data scientists focused on developing telematics pricing models.
- Provide coaching and guidance to analysts to enhance their modeling and business skills.
- Present findings, share insights, and make recommendations that impact profitability, growth and/or customer satisfaction.
- Provide tactical input on highly technically complex projects that drive change across function, SBU or Corporate Department.
- Deeply understand and enforce modeling best practices and methodologies.
- Supervise and perform highly complex, technical and creative predictive analytics projects.
- Regularly engage with the data science community and lead cross-functional working groups.
- Experience with Git/GitHub, Python, AWS and S3, model build and evaluation (language/tool agnostic), and statistics would all be preferred.
- Responsible for management, technical oversight and development for a team of data science and advanced analytics staff, which may include subordinate managers.
- Collaborates with business partners to develop tools and services such as modeling, dashboard development, and decision aids to drive strategic decision making.
- Presents findings, shares insights, and makes recommendations that impact profitability, growth and/or customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for highly technical, individualized and difficult to develop tools which are transformative in nature and have broad strategic impact to the aligned business unit.
- Provides strategic input on highly technically complex projects that drive change across function, SBU or Corporate Department.
- Directs work through others and may perform highly complex, technical and creative predictive analytics projects.
- Shapes the data science community and leads cross functional working groups.
