Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description
The Property & Specialty Underwriting Effectiveness team is looking for a team member who will play an active role in helping to deliver underwriting solutions that will enable profitable growth. This highly visible role will drive the development and deployment of underwriting solutions that will enable Liberty to become a Best-in-Class underwriter. This role will support our renewal underwriting strategy for Property &Specialty lines of business across LM & SF. Strong collaboration across State Management, Solutions, Service etc. is required to effectively drive initiatives forward. This role will have senior management visibility and will present findings to leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts moderate to high complexity analysis under minimal direction.
  • Sets up and runs advanced predictive models with limited support from experienced analysts.
  • Queries data to conduct ad hoc analysis of metrics.
  • Builds robust tools and queries for others to use.
  • Performs the underlying analysis on projects important to the SBU.
  • Provides recommendations on the appropriate tools and techniques to perform analysis.
  • Leads own workstreams on medium to long-term or moderate to high complexity projects.
  • May manage aspects of low to moderate complexity projects including members within and outside team.
  • Conducts competitive intelligence and understands market trends. Monitors and interprets developments, and use to inform strategic direction.
  • Serves as ad hoc resource for less experienced analysts. Occasionally mentors' others as requested.
  • May, with limited supervision, conduct analysis to evaluate and implement vendor products. May interacts with vendors as needed.
  • Using information gathered from analysis and research, provides franchise tactical recommendations on a countrywide basis for distribution channels while supporting changes for unique situations.
  • May evaluate cost/benefit calculations of various options, sometimes evaluating complex pilots.
  • Collaborate with teams throughout the organization that execute on core underwriting
  • Drive efficiency in underwriting execution through the deployment of solutions that optimize, automate & align processes across channels & brands
This position may have some in-office requirements based on candidate location.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field Minimum 4 year's relevant work experience, typically 6 years.
  • Master's degree beneficial. Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, Emblem).
  • Must have strong planning, organizational, analytical, decision making and communication skills.
  • Experience managing projects preferred.
