The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Summary:
The Compensation Programs team offers consultation, risk analysis, and delivery oversight of strategic, cross-functional initiatives. Annual Cycle is one of the team's primary initiatives, including the coordination of global merit and incentive programs, and the delivery of compensation statements and plan payouts. In addition, the team manages compensation technology platforms, partnering with Product Owners and technology teams to ensure systems function properly and align to the foundational compensation data structures in People at Liberty. As a Compensation Specialist, you will provide day-to-day operational and consulting support to key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of these programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees the administration of aligned compensation program for the Global Annual Cycle initiative (e.g., incentive or merit related). Ensures aligned processes are delivered successfully throughout the year and that technology platforms function properly to support compensation programs. Conducts testing in technology platforms, considers the user experience, and identifies opportunities to improve and streamline.
- Serves as a project team member on compensation projects by gathering, organizing and analyzing data, as well as presenting findings and recommendations. These projects may be outside of the normal annual programs.
- Provides compensation consulting support to key internal and external stakeholders by ensuring compensation programs and practices are according to service level agreements. Provides recommendations to resolve compensation-related questions.
- Identifies opportunities to redefine and streamline processes and partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement changes and recommend best practices. Documents new procedures and workflow accordingly.
- Submits critical data into systems and/or spreadsheets, ensures accurate data files are submitted and uploaded, processes critical system transactions, and audits variance reports to analyze, identify, and apply necessary data corrections.
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration) or equivalent experience required, in addition to 2-6 years of related human resources or analytical discipline.
- Knowledge of compensation, programs and processes. Ability to learn quickly, articulate and translate business requirements to create plans, systems, and programs.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to problem solve in ambiguous scenarios.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to make good business decisions, sometimes with incomplete data.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with customer groups to positively influence decisions and actions.
- Understands business needs and how to leverage compensation knowledge to meet those needs; demonstrates flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to manage conflict and address competing points of view.
- Displays strong PC skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
