The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

The Position
Liberty Mutual Investments is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Securitized Products Associate to join our dynamic Global Liquid Markets team. The ideal candidate will possess 5-7 years of experience and a deep understanding of Asset-Backed Securities (ABS), Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS), and Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS). This role demands a keen analytical mindset, a passion for financial markets, strong understanding of portfolio construction, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analysis of the structured product market, including ABS, CMBS and RMBS, to assess relative value across the capital stack. Formulate and present high conviction investment recommendations for both sector allocation and security selection to optimize risk-adjusted returns.
- Collaborate closely with portfolio managers and traders to define and execute LMI's securitized investment strategy. This includes evolving the framework to capture relative value opportunities across structured and traditional fixed income products.
- Communicate investment decisions and portfolio strategy to senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Utilizing advanced techniques to analyze large data sets, develop and maintain cashflow models to assess prepayment and credit risk, projecting and evaluating the performance of securitized assets.
- Perform continuous investment due diligence and monitor the ongoing performance of investments to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Create and enhance systems and capabilities for analyzing and managing securitized investments. Utilize technology and analytical tools to improve investment processes and portfolio performance.
- Review and negotiate documentation for structured investments, ensuring alignment with the firm's strategic objectives and risk appetite.
- Cultivate a robust network of industry contacts and source new investment opportunities. Maintain strong relationships with market participants, including issuers, rating agencies, bankers, traders, and other institutional investors to stay abreast of market developments and trends.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CFA) are a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in analyzing and managing securitized products, specifically ABS, CMBS, and RMBS.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis. Proficiency in analytical and data management systems such as Python, SQL, Excel, Bloomberg, and Intex.
- Solid understanding of securitization structures, credit analysis, and cash flow modeling.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment, collaborating with other analysts, portfolio managers, and cross-functional teams. Communicate complex analyses and findings clearly and concisely.
- Strong attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms and their applications in financial analysis, and the use of GPT models for advanced problem solving.
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods and their practical application in financial analysis.
- Tenacious problem-solving skills, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work well in a team, and perform under pressure.
