Sr. Counsel, Global Trade Regulations, Global Innovation Center

This is a newly-created opportunity for an experienced trade compliance attorney to join a Global Legal Compliance team and help implement and sustain company's compliance programs for the company's Global Innovation Center (GIC) sector.

Based in Shanghai (or Beijing), China, this will be a critical role of a growing legal team supporting the company's global trade function in China and AP region. This position will be primarily focused on trade and export control matters for innovation sectors.

Job Responsibilities
As a dedicated in-house senior counsel focused on compliance with import and export control
regulations for our global innovation center (GIC), you will advise strategically on a wide range of trade compliance matters in China and AP. You will coordinate with external legal counsel, as
appropriate, and provide legal advice to the company's as well as business units and departments. You will have frequent contact with internal stakeholders throughout the company's global operations, including executives.

- Continually analyzing the evolving global trade laws and regulations and policies applicable to the
company, and their impact on strategy and operations

- Conducting and advising on trade compliance risk assessments, audits, validation and due
diligence reviews and develop an enhancement plan

- Communicating with external partners, including suppliers, agents, customers, trade associations and government on Lenovo's global trade requirements and industry best practice in trade compliance

- Designing and advising on effective trade compliance policies, operating
procedures and technology control plans for GIC in their presence in China & AP
- Conducting certain trade compliance-related internal investigations

- Supporting product classification, license determination and license application

- Managing critical projects and overseeing the procurement, R&D, production activities to ensure company's compliance with applicable laws and internal policies

- Performing contract review from trade compliance perspective
- Providing a regular update

Position Requirement

- Knowledgeable of export control laws of U.S, China mainland and Taiwan.
- Have ability to provide guidance or EAR determination, ECCN classification and License determination'

- Understand the trade compliance requirement and best practice in semiconductor industry

- Ability and willingness to proactively identifies and solves complex problems, thinking
beyond existing solutions and frameworks
- Excellent communication skill and ability to explain and present complex legal advice for senior executives and ability to gain the trust of business stakeholders to achieve a desired objective
- Ability to deliver outstanding written work-product quality

Job Requirement - Prior Work Experience

- 12 years working experience in legal/compliance area with a minimum of 6 years of experience in advising multinational businesses on trade compliance and export control matters

- ITC industry experience is required

- Law firm or Consulting Firm experience is a plus but not a must
- Fluency in Mandarin and English

Educational Requirement:

1. Juris Doctor (JD) in U.S or other common law jurisdictions or a Law Degree in China with a LLM in common law jurisdictions

2. Science and Engineering background is a plus
