Who You'll Work With:

IDG (Intelligent Device Group) - The IDG at Lenovo houses our PC and Smart Devices. We combine investment in high-growth segments (workstations, gaming, visuals, thin and light devices) with new innovation in the smart device categories and continue to explore new opportunities across AR/VR, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), security and as-a-service solutions.

The Product Engineer works cooperatively within a professional competitiveness, design for cost, and product cost analysis team, responsible for evaluating our Lenovo and competitor's products, to identify and influence costs and product design.

This role provides leadership and independent influence into the product, development, and procurement teams to achieve leading cost competitiveness on Lenovo products.

1. Monitors and understands product lines and roadmaps for Lenovo and competitor's products.

2. This position has team members who reside in Morrisville, NC US, Shenzhen, China, and Beijing, China, and works directly with management in the US, China, and Japan.

3. This is a highly visible position within the Lenovo organization with regular executive interaction.

4. Provides leadership within a highly skilled engineering team, maintaining expertise in the following related areas of product competitiveness and cost, specifically but not limited to:

5. New Product Budget Setting, Competitor Analysis Reports, Design to Cost, Competitor Selection, "Out of Box" Analysis, "Should Cost" Estimates, Competitor First Look, establish the Competitive Cost Indices, Commodity Costs.

Position Requirements:

1. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering field

2. Minimum Experience: 5 years

3. Program management and communication skills.

4. Dedication to continuous improvement

5. PC or related industry experience

6. Familiar with PC architecture; CPU/chipset and performance, thermal, etc

7. Ability and willingness to be involved in all details of team responsibilities, including resource scheduling, budget development and management, supplier negotiation, executive presentations, ordering and management of equipment, and negotiations with stakeholders.

8. Ability to plan projects, allocate resources, manage equipment availability, implement and improve processes, coordinate, report and communicate at all levels within and outside the organization.Interpersonal skills. Influencer.

9. Practical knowledge of agile based program management, tools, and methodologies

10. Experience working in a global company.

11. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.

12. Excellent skills in standard Microsoft Office products, particularly PowerPoint and Excel

13. Travel as necessary to support teams and interface with BU's- about 20%

14. Confidence to be a leader that can drive both within the team and throughout PCSD with both direct and indirect control.
