Description and Requirements
Position Description
Modem/RF Technical Account Manager is responsible for interfacing Japanese carriers (MO and/or MVNO) to understand their modem and RF related requirements, articulate & communicate them to internal organization (Motorola R&D, product operation, sales & marketing), keeping track of the action items, and verify their implementations.
The position will occasionally be involved in identifying and investigating the root cause of Modem/RF related issues of the models launched in the market. One of goal is to get product approval from Japanese Carriers. Also, will be involved in Modem/RF related technical Q&A's from potential customers upon requests from corporate sales team.
The position will mainly Interact with Motorola JP Project Manager, country sales & marketing team, global R&D and product operations team, quality assurance team, inside the company.
Also will interface with Japanese carriers as well as SW development service providers and certification firms.
Key responsibilities
- Work as point of contact on Carrier technical items for both customers and internally teams. And work proactively with internal team to build a good relationship with Carriers and ensure the success of the business.
- Understand customer HW requirements and communicate with internal teams on them.
- Participate pre-sales phase to capture customer needs and wants. And communicate with internal teams in a timely manner to increase customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate Motorola technologies to customers.
- Manage technical items in RFP with internal team and communicate customers when needed.
- During product development, work with the development team to meet customer requirements following the customer process. And make sure time plan and resources leading internal team.
- Provide status updates through regular meetings with customers when needed.
- Cowork with Modem/RF team and test vendors.
- Solve technical issues found in development phase and after-sales working with CS/Development team and business team. Support analysis activities when needed.
- Provide strategic input to internal team regarding the industry or application technology trend to enhance the partnership with the customers.
- Travel domestic and overseas as needed.
Key Requirements
- At least 3 years' experience of developing models for NTT docomo / KDDI / Softbank /Rakuten / MVNO
- Understanding smartphone development process and Knowledge of key communication technologies and smartphone functions.
- Communication and presentation skills together with experience of providing technical presentations to customers.
- Experience of development work as a system design, function block design, evaluation, or debugging (work as at least one of them) as a member of Modem/RF development team.
- Experience as a product development leader, making time schedules and managing teams.
- Experience of failure analysis and fixing problems that occurred at customers.
- Cross-functional development experience together with radio/modem, electrical, mechanical, system/platform, application team, etc.
- Experience in managing RFP and requirement items provided by customers.
- Understand the technical value proposition and translate it into a business value proposition.
- Proficient in Japanese and English for listening, speaking and reading. (in Mandarin strong plus)
- Prior experience in an operator technical interfacing role required.
- Managing technical contractors in the team.
