Legal Counsel, Global Trade Regulation, AP

To further strength company's compliance program in trade area, we are seeking trade compliance legal counsel with substantial trade and export control experience to take up Asia Pacific (exclude China mainland) trade compliance responsibility based in Taipei.

Job Responsibilities (Essential functions and duties):
- To design and implement corporate export compliance policies and procedures;
- Monitor, evaluate and improve the company's export compliance system for the region;
- Support the building of a trade program that accounts for global trade regulatory requirements for AI, datacenter, and cloud computing
- Provide ad hoc trade legal support to various of business units, global supply chain and R&D labs in AP region
- Study and monitor trade compliance laws, regulations and policies for AP region and monitor the new development of the import, export control and sanctions for ITC industry;

Position Requirements:
Job Requirements - Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies (KSAC's):

  • Knowledgeable of U.S, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong export control and laws, regulations and practice
  • Have ability to provide export license application guidance in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong
  • Understand the international trade compliance requirements for import/export and supply chain management in AP, including TW/HK/JP/KR/S.E.A/India/ANZ
  • Understand the trade compliance requirement in ITC industry, such as AI, datacenter, cloud computing and ITC government procurement
  • Fluent in written and spoken in both Mandarin and English; Japanese language is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication skill and teamwork spirit is required;
  • Ability to monitor complex program under multi-jurisdictional and multitasking requirement.

Job Requirements - Prior Work Experience

  • 8 years experience in compliance areas in reputable law firm or well-known multi-national companies with minimum 3-year experience in relation to trade and export control.

Educational Requirements:

  • Legal Degree is required;
  • Master/JD in Common Law jurisdiction is preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • 10-15%
