Description and Requirements

We are currently looking for a High-Performance Computing (HPC) System Administrator to work a mix of on-site and remotely with one of our customers.

The role requires a local presence in the Toyota City area of Aichi, Japan. Candidates must reside in this area or should be open to relocating to this area.

As a member of the Lenovo Professional Services HPC System Administrator team, your responsibilities will be to:

- Implement, deliver, and administer HPC Clusters, networks, and storage.

- Perform Solution optimization, migration, upgrade, and recommend strategies

- Work collaboratively and complementary with the hardware support teams, technical sales (presales) team, and Business Partners

- Work closely to support, guide, and interact with our customers

The role gives you a great deal of independence and opportunity to take the lead and advise. You will be expected to work effectively in providing onsite technical services in the areas of HPC & AI platforms and solutions. Also, you will be responsible for implementing and supporting HPC solutions involving Server, Storage, Network, Power and Cooling, Operating System, and cluster management software. The job responsibilities involve providing troubleshooting, resolving, and advising on the mentioned infrastructure and technologies.

The position offers you the opportunity to build a solid customer relationship therefore it is important that you possess customer interaction skills and the ability to make technical decisions, to collaborate during projects with several organization verticals, partners, and customers, and to develop training and knowledge base documentation.

Position Requirements

- 3 years + experience as a Linux System Administrator (Suse, RHEL, CentOS)

- Experience with HPC system troubleshooting and support

- Awareness of Lenovo HPC hardware and ability to complete initial troubleshooting.

- Ability to work with the Lenovo Level 3 (L3) team to perform a deeper analysis of any technical issues.

- Ability to perform Operating System installation and/or upgrades with no supervision

- Knowledge of HPC Job Schedulers (PBS Pro, Slurm)

- Awareness of HPC storage solutions such as GPFS, DDN

- Able to perform high-level problem determination to resolve incidents

- Fluency in Japanese and Kanji, both spoken and written

- English language, Intermediate to Advanced (preferred) - written and spoken

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Willingness to respond on an escalation basis outside of core working hours
