Description
Seeking a Full-time Principal Warfare Systems Engineer to support the Future Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG(X)) program in Washington, DC.
In this role, will serve as a Warfare Systems Government Furnished Information (GFI) and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) subject matter expert supporting the DDG(X) Program with the integration of combat systems, navigation, and command, control, communications, computers (C4), intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) (C4I) systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Warfare Systems GFE/GFI technical engineering support for the government client to support development & configuration management of Interface Control Agreements (ICAs), Installation Control Drawings (ICDs), and ship integration changes for base and future models of DDG(X). Coordinate with NAVSEA 05, the Ship Acquisition Program Manager (SHAPM) (PMS 460), the Participating Acquisition Resources Managers (PARMs) in Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) and PEO C4I, the Shipbuilders, and GFE suppliers to support DDG(X) Warfare Systems design.
- Maintain and update Design Guidance Memorandum (DGM-026) - Installation Control Drawings (ICDs) as needed. Develop additional Design Guidance or management strategies as needed in coordination with other Cross Product Teams or Integrated Product Teams (CPT/IPTs), i.e., Design Budget, PARM Engagement Strategy
- Develop a schedule and track progress of multiple studies & concurrent development programs to support updating of ICDs and ICAs
- Prepare and manage Warfare Systems inputs to the Risks & Opportunities Management Board
- Provide assessment of risks & opportunities of concurrent development projects
- Provide assessment of Technical Readiness Levels and Integration Readiness Levels of the warfare systems to the platform
- Coordinate between NAVSEA 05, PMS 460, PEO SHIP's Government Equipment Management (GEM), Warfare Systems Managers at NSWCs, and our partner ship yard teams (BIW & HII) to review or develop ship integration changes with the NAVSEA Technical Warrant Holders (TWH) in support of the Ship Design Management Team.
- Leverage experience with and knowledge of the AEGIS Combat System and the various components and data distribution capabilities to make design decisions.
- Providing input to Topside and General Arrangements drawings and Installation Control Documents (ICD)
- Coordinate combat systems, C4I and Navigation systems integration with PARMs, PEO IWS 1, and PEO C4I PMW 760 Ship Integration Offices
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
- Developing products for the Warfare Systems IPT, leading, and participating in in-depth technical reviews and engineering meetings that follow the Set Based Design format and DDG(X) adopted systems engineering processes.
- Providing technical feedback, products, and recommendations to clients
- Interacting with client and subcontractors in the assessment and review of deliverables, and integration with Warfare Systems and platform design
- Leading and participating in engineering and system working groups and independently identifying and resolving system issues to ensure customer needs are met
- Collaborate with the DDG(X) ship design team to refine Warfare Systems specifications to support DDG(X) design
- Define or perform review of Interface Requirement Specifications (Weapons spec, Communications spec, Data Links, etc.)
- Support and develop Surface Warfare operational analysis and engineering design
- Support analyses of proposed ship Warfare/Combat Systems self-defense capability and assess the vulnerability of ship designs
- Assess and assist in developing Concepts of employment, Concept of operation
- Support Combat Systems critical task analysis for all watch positions
- Review and support topside antenna, weapon, camera, and lighting integration and arrangements
- Review and support training and training system design and development

Basic Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience with US Navy operational and Warfare Systems; specifically, ship design, systems integration, maintenance and modernization, warfare systems/platform experience with carriers, DDGs, CGs, LCS, LHD/A, LPDs, or land based test sites.
- U.S. Citizenship and Active Secret Security Clearance are required.
- Must possess a detailed understanding of US Navy system architecture and combat systems across logical, functional, hardware, software components.
- Possess operational knowledge of US Navy combatants, weapon systems, and threats.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and easily readable technical correspondence to document technical recommendations following technical reviews and collating of comments.
- Articulate in oral and written presentations; possess high organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
- Experience working dynamic programs with fluctuating scope and integrated coordination of multiple engineering disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. or Advanced Degree in engineering, analysis, or related discipline desired but not required.
- A detailed understanding of weapons, sensors, and command and control systems
- Experience with the operation, training, and readiness of Navy vessels
- Candidates should have 20+ years of progressive experience with US Navy operational and Warfare Systems; specifically, ship design, systems integration, maintenance and modernization, warfare systems/platform experience with carriers, DDGs, CGs, LCS, LHD/A, LPD or land based test sites.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
