Description

Leidos is seeking a summer intern with a Computer Networking, Computer Science or Computer Information Systems background to join our team in support of the SMIT contract, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support multi-vendor solutions such as Cisco, Brocade, Palo Alto and Aruba Wireless solutions, as well as provide data and technical analysis for the NMCI network.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the Transport Engineering team's projects
  • Participate in the planning of upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of networking equipment
  • Support automation efforts to reduce manual efforts and increase efficiencies
  • Collaborate with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines
  • Comply with ITSM processes and procedures
  • Comply with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance and use MBSE tools
  • Comply with Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239
  • Support the development and maintenance of processes, checklists, and procedures

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a degree program focusing in Networking, CS/CIS (or similar) major with graduation planned in 2025-2027
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • US citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain Security+ (or other relevant) certification to meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST)
  • CCNA Certification
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification
  • Familiarity with Agile processes
  • General Understanding of one ore more of the following skills/tools and applications
  • Routing and switching protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, STP, LACP, HSRP, DTP,Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) VIRL/CML, GNS3, EVE-NG
  • Programming languages such as Python and bash Firewall Wireless (Aruba) Cloud based services such as Azure and AWS Cisco SD-WAN and SDA

Pay Range:

Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
