Leidos has a career opportunity for a TEMPEST Certification Team Lead Manager and Inspector to support the Air Force National Capital Region IT Services program.

The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR, missions to include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites. The major support areas required are IT Operations and Maintenance; Plans, Projects, and Engineering (PP&E); and National Military Command Center (NMCC). The senior leaders and national defense missions that are supported require that the AFNCR operations never fail, resulting in a fast-paced, challenging, but also rewarding environment.

The TEMPEST Certification Team Lead Manager and Inspector is responsible for overseeing the implementation, management, and maintenance of TEMPEST measures to protect sensitive information and communication systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise, strategic leadership, and the ability to drive initiatives that ensure compliance with national security standards. The ideal candidate will lead a specialized team in mitigating risks associated with electromagnetic emissions while contributing to the overall security posture of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing TEMPEST team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Manage team performance to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of TEMPEST protocols and measures.
  • Engage with executive leadership to provide updates on TEMPEST-related initiatives, risks, and compliance status.

TEMPEST Operations:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of TEMPEST solutions, including the assessment and mitigation of electromagnetic emissions from sensitive systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and testing of systems to ensure compliance with TEMPEST standards and security requirements.
  • Collaborate with other IT and security teams to integrate TEMPEST considerations into system design and operational processes.

Innovative Problem Solving:

  • Identify and resolve complex issues related to electromagnetic security through innovative solutions and best practices.
  • Recommend and develop new technical standards, policies, and procedures to enhance the organization's TEMPEST capabilities.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
  • Effectively communicate technical information related to TEMPEST measures to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to information security.

Research & Development:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies related to TEMPEST, integrating relevant knowledge into team practices.
  • Lead the development of training programs and materials to educate staff on TEMPEST requirements and best practices.

Qualifications:

Clearance:

  • DoD Secret Clearance

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Security, or a related field; Master's degree preferred or commensurate experience.
  • Experience:
  • 12-15 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity or information security, with a focus on TEMPEST or related fields.
  • Proven experience in leading specialized technical teams in complex environments.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of TEMPEST standards and protocols, as well as electromagnetic theory and security practices.
  • Proficient in conducting TEMPEST assessments and implementing countermeasures for sensitive systems.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements related to national security.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive organizational change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of conceptualizing complex security scenarios.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • TEMPEST-related certifications or training.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
