The National Security Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Tactical Radio Technician to work at the customer site in Osan AB, Republic of Korea (South Korea).This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the PACAF C5ISRO II mission. In this mission, we provide IT support to our PACAF customers throughout the Pacific Theater.
This position will provide support to design, develop, implement, maintain, and optimize ground-to-air tactical radio communication systems to facilitate secure and effective ground-to-air radio communication in support of the 621 ACS daily operations. The 621 ACS maintains and operates over 40 UHF/VHF fixed radios and SATCOM radios at 14 discrete sites spread throughout the Korean peninsula for providing air control services for combat training and contingency operations to the 8th and 51st Fighter Wings (FWs). The chosen candidate is responsible for providing technical expertise to senior engineers and the 621ACS leadership team in the general areas of Radio Frequencies (RF), ground-to-air tactical radios, Radio-over-IP (RoIP) communications, and other relevant fields. The candidates skills requires proficiency in monitoring, installing, modifying, overhauling, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding components integral to the continuous operation of the existing tactical radio communications system. Maintenance and troubleshooting of radio networks, encompassing switches, routers, communication circuits, multiplexors, cryptographic devices, radio gateways, and other RF communication devices. This task involves diagnosing and rectifying system and equipment issues to ensure optimal analog/digital voice transport. The candidate diligently develops and upholds in-depth technical documentation, baseline configurations, and system status reports. This documentation will serve as the bedrock for the development and lifecycle management of the BCS-K architecture to support future system deployments, maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts. In addition, the candidate conducts regular PMIs, and maintains detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications carried out, generating comprehensive technical reports, detailed logs, and documentation. The candidate works closely with senior engineers, field support technicians, and third-party vendor representatives, to conduct site surveys, and/or to address complex issues to support the seamless integration of emerging technologies into the existing radio architecture. They will also make recommendations to enhance system performance, security, and functionality, ensuring alignment with evolving unit requirements and DoD Information Assurance / Cyber Security (IA/CS) policies and regulations. This position also provides training to fellow technicians and end-users on the appropriate usage, handling, troubleshooting, and maintenance techniques associated with tactical radio equipment.

Primary Responsibilities.
- Provide technical expertise for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of ground-to-air tactical radio communication systems to support the 621ACS daily operation.
- Monitor, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild associated components critical to the continuing operation of the tactical radio system located in Osan AB, and discrete remote sites in the Republic of Korea (ROK).
- Provide technical expertise to senior engineers and decision-makers, acting as a key subject matter expert across all facets of tactical radio systems to support system upgrades and modernization initiatives.
- Conduct site surveys and provide technical data to senior engineers to support the system capability enhancement as needed.
- Conduct thorough Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on tactical radio communication equipment, adhering to manufacturer recommendations and/or industry best practices, and provide post-PMI reports upon request.
- Use appropriate test equipment to calibrate radio system equipment and to conduct fault isolation of root causes.
- Maintain and troubleshoot radio networks, including switches, routers, long haul communication circuits, multiplexors, cryptographic devices, radio gateways, and other RF communications devices, to diagnose and repair system and equipment issues for optimal analog/digital voice transport.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications performed, and generate detailed technical reports, logs, and documentation.
- Generate and maintain detailed technical documentation, baseline configurations, and system health reports to support system deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Provide training to other technicians and end-users on the proper usage, handling, troubleshooting, and maintenance techniques of tactical radio equipment.
Basic Qualifications.
- Active Secret clearance
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
- A high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, electrical/electronic engineering, or mathematics with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in radio communication technologies, protocols, modulation schemes, military frequency bands, and RF/MW test equipment such as signal sources, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers is required.
Preferred Qualifications.
Prior experience in any of the products/systems by Cornet Technologies, Parraid, Rockwell Collins, Rome Touch Control Server, Cisco switching and routing, and Windows/Linux administration is strongly desired

Pay Range:
Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
