Systems Security Engineer

Leidos is looking for a Systems Security Engineer to join a growing team of Information Assurance and Security professionals. The selected candidate will participate in system design, development, and integration of hardware & software applications for our customers highly specialized programs. Working with other team members the candidate will ensure all aspects of security are incorporated into the system design throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle.

Primary Responsibilities

Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Information Assurance & Cybersecurity for software and hardware development.

  • Provide expertise as a security engineering representative for the design, development, implementation, and integration of solutions or tools to support secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  • Establish policies & procedures that implement the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) best practices.
  • Design, test, and integrate technical solutions and custom tools for secure operating systems, networks, monitoring, tuning, data loss prevention, and management with a focus on establishing a cohesive security program.
  • Develop solutions and manage projects for complex technical issues and problems.
  • Provide technical influence and guidance to the team regarding solution design, process, and approach.
  • Identifies security vulnerabilities and needed security protection measures.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, or related field with a minimum 12-15 years of experience.
  • DoD Approved 8570 IAT Level II Certifications.
  • Experience in identifying, researching, characterizing, and documenting security weaknesses related to operating systems, software applications, firmware, and hardware components.
  • Solid understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Should have significant hands-on experience implementing security, hardware, software, and network components.
  • Ability to work independently within a schedule and with little direction.
  • Experience with Information Assurance standards in Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency and Special Access Programs.
  • Some scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) experience.
  • Ability to work independently within a schedule and with little direction.
  • Strong technical writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced programming (C++, C#) and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) experience.

DoDM 8570 Level III Certifications or IASAE I.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
