The National Security Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Systems Hardware Engineer to work at the US Army Development Command Soldier Center (DEVCOM SC), in Natick, MA. The Aerial Delivery Division (ADD) and Airdrop Technology Team (ATT) has several research and development programs pursuing advancements in cargo and personnel airdrop Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) flight software and software support systems, to include autonomous flight software, mission planning, navigation and sustainment situational awareness technologies. The Engineer serves as project lead of all Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Applied Research efforts for long range Autonomous Cargo Aerial Insertion systems. Additionally, the Engineer will serve as project engineer for numerous software development efforts, include automatic data distribution and Command and Control for resupply systems and Small Unit Resupply sustainment mission planning efforts.

Responsibilities - What You'll Be Doing:

  • Contribute to and lead Aerial Delivery RDT&E efforts.
  • Research, evaluate, develop, and apply new processes and methods into products.
  • Operate from documents, written or verbal instructions, schematics, diagrams and/or plans often requiring interpretation and application of knowledge and practical understanding of electronic theory and principles.
  • May be responsible for establishing and conducting testing routines, and documentation of work and results.
  • Design, test, check-out, modify, fabric, and assemble devices or equipment.
  • Conduct project management for development efforts being planning, executing, and evaluating performance of projects under their responsibilities. Support/lead field exercises and/or live testing.
  • Coordinate with the developers and other Government agencies and work within internal and external stakeholders.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hardware/Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline with 4 or more years of experience.
  • US Citizen: Successful completion of background check to obtain/maintain a government common access card (CAC) upon hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with software and electromechanical hardware design and components of electronic devices.
  • Familiarity with Agile development and Cybersecurity/RMF
  • Understands general circuits with working knowledge of circuit board fabrication and integration.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Master's Degree in Hardware/Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. With some coding or electronic circuit development experience, knowledge of software technical data packages, software architecture, and requirements, and some experience with communication networks and IP radios.
  • Proven abilities with software development and managing software development programs.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple actions at any given time.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others in a team.
  • Preferable the candidate will have experience working with Army and Military commodities.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
