Description

The NISC IV Training Group (NTG) within the Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is looking for a highly motivated individual with strong experience in administration and configuration of Jira as well as technical writing.

The Systems Admin / Technical Writer role involves overseeing day-to-day administrative tasks for AST Jira projects, including project configuration, user account management, workflow optimization, script automation, conducting end-user training, and providing technical support as necessary.

Note: This is a remote position. However, the right candidate will be within a commutable distance to the office in Washington DC. This is necessary for customer site meetings.

Primary Responsibilities

Specific duties for the position include:

  • Proofreading documentation to ensure the accuracy of format, structure, proper semantic/syntactic use, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Documentation may be in the form of conventional documents or may be implemented as user guides, help sections or reference materials embedded in software systems.
  • Entering, monitoring and updating technical issues in JIRA tracking tool.
  • Producing system architecture diagrams and visuals pertaining to software, data, workflows and system logic.
  • Editing documents, to include checking and correcting the content to ensure consistency and coherence; style; grammar; parallel structure; and cross-referencing, ensuring:

    • All documents are clear and comprehensible.
    • There is a logical development of subject matter.
    • The level of concept, expression, and vocabulary is appropriate for the target audience.
    • Conclusions drawn are valid and supported by reference to facts.
    • Conclusions are consistent and compatible with other documents and conform to established division, agency, and departmental procedures as well as the Administrative Procedures Act.
  • This includes but is not limited to: partnering with subject matter experts, other technical writers/editors, team lead, attorneys, and/or management officials to ensure documents meet consistency and accuracy standards outlined above.
  • Produce edited documentation for review.
  • Revise documentation to incorporate any requested changes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Master's with 2+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree .
  • Proficiency and experience with Jira task management software.
  • Demonstrated capability to proactively engage and serve end users for in maintaining IT or other software tools for their use.
  • Experience developing, delivering, and maintain training on IT related tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve configuration-related issues effectively.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong ability to quickly and effectively gather requirements, perform research, compile information, prioritize and collate, draft, edit, and produce high-quality documentation that satisfies customer needs with minimal follow-on work needed
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance (i.e., Public Trust) is required if hired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience drafting technical documentation using federal government official document requirements and style guides

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
