Description

Leidos is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. The StaffSystems Engineer will deploy new Windows and Linux servers in Azure, plan and execute the integration of COTS services into the environment and provide support for maintaining and enhancing the environment.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must possess and active Secret or above to be considered for role. (US Citizenship required)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform best practice engineering support for an Azure Cloud environment consisting of Windows and Linux servers
  • Build, configure, patch and maintain Windows and Linux servers via IaC, Ansible Automation Platform, or other automation platforms
  • Integrate services, such as PrinterLogic, distributed file services, and Ansible Automation Platform into the virtualized environment
  • Perform application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control utilizing Jira, GitLab, IaC, and Ansible Automation Platform
  • Provide advice, technical consultation, and guidance for Tier 3 / Tier 4 support by analyzing and resolving problems and evaluating alternative means of satisfying user requirements
  • Research, test, and deploy security patches and vulnerability remediation changes
  • Provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of complex IT systems
  • Perform automation tasks through scripting and testing
  • Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, and resolution steps) for root causes analysis and process improvement initiatives
  • Actively identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations aimed at improving the user experience, improving efficiencies, and lowering sustainment costs
  • Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Must possess and active Secret or above to be considered for role. (US Citizenship required)
  • Experience building, configuring, patching and maintaining Windows and Linux servers
  • Experience planning and executing the integration of services and appliances into Azure or other secure IaaS environments
  • Thorough understanding and experience with Azure Cloud services
  • Knowledge of basic networking and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, SSH, VPNs)
  • Hands-on experience reviewing and analyzing system logs and events to resolve issues
  • Experience developing and providing solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact development, test and production environments
  • Experience implementing and maintaining Entra ID and/or Microsoft Active Directory environments
  • Experience documenting standard operating procedures or other documentation to assist operations teams or end users
  • Experience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilizing continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and leveraging automation platforms such as Ansible or Azure Functions
  • Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA
  • Ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team, aided by strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to obtain IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP within 60 days after start date of assignment.

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP
  • Experience building and delivering IaaS servers and platform via IaC
  • Experience integrating PrinterLogic, distributed file services, Ansible Automation Platform, and other services into secure, virtualized environments
  • Experience deploying and scaling Azure Virtual Desktop environments via Azure Functions or other automation platforms
  • Experience deploying and maintaining complex virtual infrastructures with web/application tiers and data tiers
  • Recognized cloud certification such as Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect or Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified Solutions Architect

Pay Range:

Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
