Description

The Digital Modernization Sector has a career opportunity for a Release Train Engineer supporting the Global Solutions Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract at DISA. This contract includes the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). It also includes support to other key tasks for DISA, including the transformation of DISA's operational mission through innovation, and support to DISA's mission partners.

Candidate must be able to be on site at Fort Meade, Scott AFB, or Hill AFB daily. At a minimum, a Secret clearance is required upon the start of employment and within 14 days following the start date the employee must obtain their Security + certification.

The Release Train Engineer is responsible for working within a fast paced, Agile team to verify and validate changes made to the system as well as develop more efficient and modern test techniques and processes. The Release Train Engineer will be responsible for facilitating ART practices and PI execution. They will escalate impediments, manage risk, and help ensure value delivery and relentless improvement. The RTEs will also often participate in the Lean-Agile transformation, coaching leaders, teams, and Scrum Master/Team Coaches in the new mindset and processes. They will also help adapt SAFe to the organization's needs, standardizing and documenting practices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • This role requires an experienced Agile Leader to take on Release Train Engineer responsibilities for an Agile Release Train (ART). The position requires a critical driving force within the team for optimizing flow and pushing for improvement using the implementation of a Lean/Agile mindset.
  • Managing and optimizing the flow of value through an Agile Release Train (ART)
  • Managing schedule execution and planning the software / architecture releases for the program
  • Facilitating Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness by fostering a continuous exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings.
  • Facilitating cross-team collaboration within program via Scrum of Scrums meeting and other less formal forums in support of development, testing, and deployment efforts
  • Summarizing Team PI objectives into Program PI objectives and publishing them for visibility and transparency
  • Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities through metrics across the program's agile and DevOps teams.
  • Briefing customer on development progress throughout PI cycle and on the status of testing, deployment, and release readiness
  • Acquiring understanding of the large complex software system and assess risk and understand varied customer concerns
  • Coaching teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Project/Program Leaders in agile practices
  • Promoting teamwork to achieve PI goals.
  • Leading the teams towards agile maturity
  • Escalating and tracking impediments
  • Work with the Scrum teams to identify dependencies and critical path items to ensure work is executed in the most efficient manner
  • Providing input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks and remove blockers
  • Working with the contractor Program Management Office (PMO) on program execution test data

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires a US Citizenship.
  • Obtain an active security certification that meets DOD 8570 IAT level II or higher (i.e., Security+) within 14 days of hire.
  • Must hold an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to commute to Scott AFB, IL, Ft. Meade, MD, or Ogden, UT for full time on-site support
  • Bachelor's Degree with 8 - 12 years of relevant experience or master's with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of work experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
  • Experience working with an Agile software development team, managing project deadlines (ideally in a Scrum Master, or Development role)
  • Experience briefing leadership and/or customers of key status of project progression.
  • Experience communicating with and briefing status to external stakeholders, including customer representatives.
  • Experience using agile project management tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time extremely well, and quickly sense when an issue needs to be discussed or triaged.
  • Must have strong attention to detail, as focus on task completion is critical.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possesses 3-5 years' experience with ServiceNow administration, configuration management and maintenance of the ServiceNow platform.
  • Prior knowledge and experience with ServiceNow's ATFs
  • Understanding of ITIL foundation or ITIL certified
  • AWS cloud certifications
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
