We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on the operation, maintenance, and engineering of complex infrastructure systems. This role requires a proactive, hands-on professional with expertise in Windows systems administration, security, and cross-functional collaboration. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will drive the resolution of technical challenges, ensuring system security and continuous improvement across various technologies.

• Provide hands-on engineering and administration support for: ○ Hardware (Dell laptops & servers)

Virtualization (vSphere ESXi, vCenter, vRealize Operations Manager)

Windows Administration (Windows Server, Windows 10, Active Directory, MECM, SQL Servers)

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), offering actionable guidance to resolve technical challenges, execute vulnerability resolutions, and ensure continuous system improvements.

• Support the full project lifecycle for infrastructure initiatives, including planning, execution, inventory management, procurement, and developing Bills of Materials for budgetary quotes.

Security & Compliance:

• Identify, test, and resolve security vulnerabilities across systems, ensuring robust security protocols and compliance with NIST standards, emphasizing DoD STIGs

• Collaborate with teams to design, develop, and recommend integrated system solutions that protect proprietary and confidential data.

• Translate business and security requirements into technical designs and assist with the implementation and validation of secure systems.

Collaboration & Problem-Solving:

• Resolve technical issues autonomously by working with vendors and cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.

• Contribute to program planning, reporting, and identifying team contributions for rewards/recognition.

• Participate in recurring meetings (e.g., All Hands) and collaborate with leadership on ongoing initiatives.

• Provide cross-functional training to team members and other departments as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) with 8-12 years of relevant experience, including 6+ years in Windows systems design, integration, and administration.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex systems administration issues in an enterprise environment.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

• Proficiency in applying NIST SP 800-53 controls and frameworks to enhance system security.

• Hands-on experience managing Active Directory and Group Policies.

• Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement effective remediation strategies.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues to non-technical audiences.

• Proficiency in implementing STIGs in a Windows environment.

• Experience with AD Domain services, MECM, Virtualization, and STIG/SCAP/NIST processes, including ATO/A&A submission.

• Experience in cybersecurity design and ensuring robust security protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with McAfee ePO (ENS, Drive Encryption), IBM BigFix

• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk for performance tuning and optimization.

• Experience with automation via PowerShell or Python scripting

• Experience with storage technologies (e.g., PureStorage).

• Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, Splunk).

• Experience with cloud migration and managing hybrid environments.

• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-800, AZ-801, or equivalent.

• Experience designing and executing disaster recovery (DR) plans, including recovery and backup methods before significant changes.

• Familiarity with ITIL best practices for service management.

• Experience mentoring junior team members and providing technical leadership in cross-functional projects.

• Experience with Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS) and associated best practices

Clearance / Citizenship:

U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Must hold an active Top-Secret security clearance (Interim Top-Secret or adjudicated Secret acceptable).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
