We are excited to announce a career opportunity for a Senior Supply Chain Engineer (SCE) supporting a customer at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, for the Common Hardware Systems - 6th Generation (CHS-6) IDIQ in support of the U.S. Army, DoD and Federal government programs and agencies where Leidos provides seamless and consolidated procurement of Commercial Information Technology (CommIT). Primary work location is in Reston VA.
The role of the Senior Supply Chain Engineer (SCE) will include, but not limited to, working as liaison between Leidos' Army program engineering and Supply Chain team, identifying and mitigating proposal/program risks and opportunities as they pertain to material requirements; maximizing cost avoidance through bill of materials (BOM) configuration strategy; assisting program in achieving material budget objectives; participating in sourcing process improvement projects (both Supply Chain and program); resolving Supply Chain issues for the program, resolving material cost problems and managing Supply Chain Risks.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Supply Chain Strategy. The SCE is responsible for all activities associated with researching and recommending suppliers and products effective to the customer mission relative to programs and proposals. The SCE works closely with the Material Project Manager and Material Planners to ensure the review of material requirements for clarity, compliance, detail, completeness, regulatory compliance and obtains additional information considered necessary. Due to nature of assignments, up to 10% travel is possible. Working onsite is required 3 days per week during a steady state.
Primary Responsibilities
-Serves as Senior Supply Chain Engineer in the Material Operations & Strategy organization with interaction with numerous HW, SW, Cloud & Cyber manufacturers, and technical teams within Leidos
-Solve problems in Cost/Value Engineering, Affordability, and Technical Solutions
-Monitor and report Supply Chain Risks to the program including counterfeit and other GIDEP tracked issues
-Provide innovative technical solutions and sourcing strategies that drive down cost (market research, engaging with Category Managers/Supplier Relationship Managers, etc.)
-Work with Solution Architects and Engineers to define technical requirements by engaging suppliers
-Coordinates with suppliers to manage obsolescence for hundreds of items; identify and propose cost-effective solution alternatives and technology roadmap options as IT materials go end-of-sale or end-of-life
-Have job responsibilities associated with Supplier Management, Program Strategy Development, Program Material Acquisition, Business Process Re-Engineering, and Procurement Tool deployments
-Meet cost savings and avoidance targets so negotiations skills are a must
-This individual should be a self-starter and someone that is flexible and is able to work independently
-Forecasting Supply Chain related information (market research, potential growth areas)
-Participate and lead Supplier Meetings (Summit, Symposium and Roadshows)
Basic Qualifications
- Technical Bachelor's degree (Example: BS in IT Mgt, BS in Supply Chain, etc) from an accredited college with 4+ years of prior relevant professional experience or a Master's degree with 2+ years of prior relevant experience. Equivalent experience/combined education may be considered in lieu of degree.
-2+ years-experience in areas of project planning, scheduling, coordination, with a demonstrated history of developing technical solutions that meet program requirements. MUST possess background in Technology.
-Strong understanding in acquisition of IT HW, IT SW, Cloud, Cyber, and XaaS technologies
-Experience with supplier coordination including hardware and software selection, maintenance issues, warranty and problem resolution
-Demonstrated experience interfacing across multiple organizations and program levels simultaneously with minimal supervision
-Working knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
-Basic understanding of creating complex solicitations, supporting proposals, conducting moderate complexity price and cost analysis, negotiating price/cost and price/cost-related terms
-Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work under tight time constraints
-Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
-US Citizenship is required for this position
Preferred Qualifications
-Active Secret Security Clearance
-PMP certification
-PowerBI or equivalent experience preferred
-Experience in the areas of procurement, pricing or subcontracts, with a demonstrated history of developing request for quotes and bill of materials that comply with the FAR and source selection under tight time constraints with minimal guidance is preferred.
-Understanding in acquisition of materials and components, consisting of, but not limited to, non-IT related finished products, raw materials, fabricated parts, electronic components, machines, equipment, and test devices.
-Knowledge of Warranty and Repair activities

Pay Range:
Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
