The Leidos Innovations Center operates at the leading edge of technology by designing, demonstrating, and deploying solutions to solve complex remote sensing problems for our Department of Defense customers. We are currently seeking a Senior Scientific Software Engineer with a focus in camera sensors and real-time applications with our San Diego-based team. The Leidos Innovations Center charge is to develop solutions to drive system research and development and transition deployment operations throughout Leidos.

Please note: Varying amounts of remote/teleworking opportunities may be available for this role pending type of work.

In this Senior Scientific Software Engineering position:

  • You will design software architecture, understand the deployment hardware, develop software for real-time sensor applications, test software, and follow the configuration management and coding standards for the program.
  • You will work with a team of other software developers, engineers, and scientists to develop defense systems.
  • You will understand the fundamentals of the sensors, the algorithms, and the details of the software being developed.

Basic Qualifications.

  • BS degree in physics, mathematics, engineering, or other related disciplines with 12+ years of relevant experience or Master's in technical domain above with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain and Top Secret security clearance.
  • At least 10 years of experience in system programming within Linux, RTOS, BareMetal or other similar operating systems.
  • At least 10 years of experience developing software in C++.
  • At least 10 years of experience working with camera systems, including image processing algorithms, image mapping to terrain maps, geo-location, clutter reduction, tracking, camera calibration, and scene simulation.
  • A technical understanding of sensor systems.
  • Experience in efficient data handling from sensor systems.
  • Strong C++ programming along with experience in CUDA/OpenCL, FORTRAN, Python, and Matlab.
  • Ability to understand the product requirements and use cases but spend most of your time in the detailed development of software.
  • An explicit knowledge of software static analysis, dynamic analysis, software profiling, thread concurrency, real-time design, and configuration management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a variety of engineering applications in commercial and defense applications.
  • Experience with robotics and autonomy.
  • Interest and ability to develop and test firmware for FPGA applications.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
