To support maintaining and building upon these standards we seek to engage an exceptional professional as a Project Engineering Planner at our Lynnwood, WA facility.

Primary Responsibilities

In the Project Engineering Planner role, you are responsible for planning, organizing, monitoring, and controlling a formal work order process for a team of engineering technologists assigned to a broad portfolio of programs. In addition, you are responsible for managing the hands-on plan of multiple projects that either directly or indirectly support those programs. You are a key member of a dynamic team reporting directly to the Maritime Systems Production Manager.

Your primary project duties will include:

  • Managing a visual Kanban system that defines, sizes, prioritizes, and authorizes project backlog incorporating agile principles to minimize work-in-progress and optimize productivity.
  • Collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure work orders, manufacturing procedures, training documents, and safety plans are written and routed accurately.
  • Using agile sizing techniques to measure and report planned velocity to actual velocity for both individual and the aggregate of work orders.
  • Creating, organizing, and conducting an effective replenishment and grooming process for Kanban work orders, including conducting virtual and in-person standup meetings to monitor progress, identifying roadblocks, and supporting activity needed to eliminate them.
  • Maintaining and reporting a Kanban work order dashboard, supported by detailed metrics for conducting Data Driven Decision Making (DDDM).
  • Using DDDM to perform time phased short-term and long-term resource planning, including solicitating future demand for engineering technologists and facility resources from various stakeholders as part of sizing project backlogs.
  • Assisting the Maritime Production Manager to support new staffing decisions based on DDDM and administration of the new hire process.
  • Managing a retrospective process for continuous improvement over all utilized systems and flows.
  • Reporting the Kanban work order process the Production Manager and resolving conflicting priorities through a collaborative process that may require escalation.

Your primary hands-on project engineering duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, organizing, managing and report progress of various capital expenditure projects.
  • Defining, budgeting, controlling, maintaining, and monitoring the purchasing of tooling, assemblies, and test equipment.
  • Directly coordinating with suppliers of tooling, assembly, and test equipment to ensure functional, regulatory, cost and schedule objectives are achieved.
  • Ensuring total productive maintenance is performed on tooling, assemblies, and test equipment.
  • Collaborate with Security and Office Management to set up access requests, escorts, conference rooms, and other administrative duties associated with visitors related to the work described above.
  • Supporting program and facility requirements related to environmental, safety, and health as well as other regulatory compliance administration.
  • Monitor and coordinate training requirements for engineering technologists and production technicians including items such as production screening chambers, crane safety, forklift safety, water tank safety, explosives, electrostatic discharge control, etc.
  • In general, minimizing the administrative burden on the Maritime Systems Production Manager and local Shop Floor Manager to focus on a heavy workload associated with executing complex program demands.

Additional duties include:

  • Work in collaboration with Technicians and Technologist to inspect, build and delivery production electronic and mechanical hardware.
  • Support the continuous efforts to maintain a clean organized facility using 5S standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge and skills related to complex electromechanical systems with embedded software.
  • Superb writing and visual presentation skills
  • Ample experience with the software suites best used to create clear and concise presentations and schedules.
  • Ability to work productively and cooperatively with technicians, engineers, and managers.
  • Experience planning capital expenditure projects.
  • Bachelor's degree or significant directly relatable experience.
  • Ability to readily obtain a SECRET clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data Driven Decision Making (DDDM).
  • Hands-on experience with installing, operating, and maintaining complex equipment.
  • Agile project management knowledge and experience which employs pull systems to achieve work balance.
  • Experience with agile software such as Confluence, Jira or other similar tools.
  • Fundamental knowledge about Lean Manufacturing such as 5S workplace organization techniques.
  • Assuming that primary responsibilities are fully addressed, the ability to perform Kanban work orders from project backlog associated with program work scope.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or operations discipline.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
