Description

Leidos is seeking a talented Product Engineer to support multiple projects as part of the Advanced Materials Department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Product Engineer will work alongside design engineers, structural analysis engineers, manufacturing personnel, procurement teammates, program management, and customers to oversee design, analysis, fabrication/assembly, and delivery of critical hardware to various customers.
  • The position will work independently with minimal interaction from leadership to manage tasks involving the design and development of structural and mechanical systems for material processing, material characterization, aviation, missile, and ground support projects.
  • The Product Engineer will be responsible for managing schedules and budgets as related to their project.
  • Focus will be placed on engineering design and analysis for fabrication; integration of prototypes; development of components; and special test equipment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 5 years experience.
  • Candidates must have a background in Mechanical Design and a working understanding of various manufacturing methods with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills suitable for interfacing with a wide range of customers and capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Candidate should have some desire/willingness to mentor junior mechanical designers and/or structural analysts.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen, and must be a resident of the Huntsville, AL area or be willing to relocate.
  • Candidate must have good organizational skills, attention to detail and work well as a key member of a team often tasked to be highly responsive and agile in order to satisfy critical technology development and hardware production needs:
    • Proven experience managing to and meeting accelerated schedules
    • Effective communication of information between various functional disciplines as well as strong briefing skill with customers.
    • Schedule management for multiple task areas at a time
    • Understanding the requirements of executing classified tasks.
  • Candidate must be proficient using CAD software: Solidworks and/or Creo/ProE
  • Candidate must be proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of hardware development, manufacturing, procurement, production, and integration.
  • Experience working in a classified design/manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with general drafting practices, with a demonstrated ability to create production drawings and have experience interfacing with CAD software, and CAD data management.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is strongly preferred.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
