Primary Responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Marine Engineer with extensive design experience and in-depth knowledge of the design process and engineering analysis of auxiliary and propulsion systems specifically related to small craft from concept through production design. Additionally, the candidate should possess a sound practicing knowledge of structural mechanics.
The candidate will be able to provide technical knowledge to interdisciplinary teams supporting complex design projects from the concept design phase through to detailed design for production. With minimal supervision, develop technical specifications, analysis reports, calculations, and develop designs to meet Specifications and regulatory body requirements (ABS/RINA/LR/ISO/USCG). Will be responsible for coaching, reviewing and delegating work. Capable of developing status reports, technical reports, documentation, and high-level briefings. Perform quality control reviews of products such as analyses, calculations and drawings. The candidate will be able to develop proposals, specifications, and cost estimates for G&C projects in response to requests received from clients. The candidate may be required to interface with the client and manage technical work to control scope, budgets, and schedules.
Location: Prefer local candidates able to work onsite at our Chesapeake office. Will consider candidates that are fully remote.
Basic Qualifications.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years' experience as a Naval Architect or Marine Engineer, with a focus on small craft design and engineering analysis.
- Practicing knowledge of design and engineering of auxiliary and propulsion systems for small craft
- Practicing knowledge of structural mechanics
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and industry-standard CAD software (AutoCAD, Rhino).
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Recent performance in personally executing detailed engineering analysis
Preferred Qualifications.
- MS or PhD degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineer's License
- Active Secret security clearance
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Pay Range:
Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
