Noise Analyst for National Airspace System (NAS)

Description

The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking a Noise Analyst to provide support to the Central Service Area (CSA) VOR MON Program for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate FAA airspace procedural design changes to identify environmental impacts to environmental justice, politically, culturally and noise sensitive areas and historical places based on flight paths and altitudes as required by FAA Orders 1050.lF Environmental Impacts: Policies and Procedures and 7400.2 Procedures for Handling Airspace Matters.
  • Conduct environmental modeling for FAA airspace actions subject to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and prepare documents such as Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements for the proposed airspace actions.
  • Evaluate environmental impact(s) associated with airspace procedure changes associated with the decommissioning of FAA navigational aids as part of the FAA Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VOR) Minimum Operations Network (MON) program

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires BS and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, high-level capacity to multi-task, and strong organizational skills.
  • Have strong research, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Have experience within the federal government, preferably the FAA.
  • Understand air traffic control, technical operations, and aviation-related terminology and concepts.
  • Be proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, Zoom/virtual meeting applications, database management applications, and ability to use the internet as a data-gathering tool.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain Public Trust security clearance.
  • Ability to work within a team setting.
  • Have the ability to prioritize and work independently as well as with others.
  • Highly developed presentation skills.
  • Experience reviewing all NEPA impact categories

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with database management, KSN (SharePoint) websites, and MS Excel.
  • Experience writing and reviewing NEPA documents, including but not limited to: Categorical Exclusions (CATEX), Environmental Assessments (EA) and/or Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
