What You'll Be Doing:
As a Naval Architect III, you'll join a team that blends hands-on naval architecture with innovative engineering solutions. You'll work on a range of vessels, including steel, aluminum, and composite crafts, from 20' to 250'. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience across the full spectrum of naval architecture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed engineering calculations using first principles and tackle design challenges with creative, practical solutions.
- Assist Project Managers in boat and vessel design, providing technical expertise to meet client needs.
- Adhere to and improve our Engineering Standards and Procedures to ensure top-tier quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with engineers to document and solve complex design challenges.
- Complete engineering assignments on time using standard industry software and processes.
- Provide onsite engineering services to US Navy Combatant Craft Division (Code 83) at Little Creek Amphibious Base.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in naval architecture or marine engineering with at least 3 years related to small craft design.
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering principles, practices, and related technologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards (BS/RINA/LR/ISO/USCG/ABYC) and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with developing calculations and drawings for Class and Flag review and approval.
- Proficiency in CAD software, including AutoCAD and Rhino.
- Strong skills in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degrees (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Naval Architecture or related fields.
- Shipyard or boatyard experience
- Professional Engineering License
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Professional certificates of competency in applicable CAD software

Pay Range:
Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
