The Leidos Maritime System Solutions (MSS) team currently has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer supporting the NIWC Pacific Voyager program. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the NIWC Pacific mission in setting up a Product Data Management (PDM) environment, performing Configuration Management (CM), and developing and implementing a data management plan. The candidate will also support mechanical engineering design efforts, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and scientists to research detection technologies, interface with users to understand needs and requirements, and field complete solutions. This position will require the candidate to obtain and hold a Top Secret Clearance. Primary Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Engineer will work with a small team of engineers and technicians to set up a Product Data Management (PDM) environment, perform Configuration Management (CM), and develop and implement a data management plan. The candidate will also support mechanical engineering design efforts, including design, preparation, and communication of technical strategies using technical standards (e.g., NSTM, ASTM, ASME, ANSI, MIL-S). The Mechanical Engineer will coordinate and distribute technical data with technicians, clients, and management across various disciplines to ensure projects stay on schedule and remain technically compliant. The position will involve CAD design using Solidworks, preparing scope, budgets, and schedules for projects. The Mechanical Engineer will also communicate directives and training/procedural guidelines to technicians and may host meetings with stakeholders to resolve technical, budget, and schedule issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 6 years of applicable experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • Must have experience with mechanical engineering design and analysis, as well as test and evaluation of mechanical systems.
  • Must have experience with Product Data Management (PDM) and Configuration Management (CM).
  • Must be proficient in CAD design, preferably with Solidworks.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to support the program remotely and work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with underwater systems, UUVs, or other related technologies.
  • Experience with test and evaluation of at-sea systems, including managing engineers, and scientists.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering design and analysis software, such as CAD or FEA tools.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, research, development, testing, and evaluation environment.
  • Previous experience working with government agencies, particularly NIWC Pacific, is a plus.
  • Experience with project management, including preparing scope, budgets, and schedules for projects, and tracking their development from start to finish.
  • Experience with leadership and business communication skills, including hosting meetings and communicating with stakeholders.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
