We are excited to announce our opening for a Material Planner on the Global Supply Chain team in Huntsville AL! This opportunity calls for experience supporting the Common Hypersonic Glide Body (CHGB) mission. The role of the Material Planner (MP) is to manage, track and report all program material activities, managing the material requirements to lead time schedule, resolving supply chain issues for the program, communicate progress and supplier performance to program leadership and maintaining material forecast based on project schedules. The MP reports to the Material Operations & Strategy Associate Director and is directly aligned to the Program Manager and represents Material Operations & Strategy on the CHGB program and support the embedded Material Program Manager where needed.

The successful candidate will serve as an integral member of the Program Management Team. This Material planner role will have direct contact with internal Customers, Program management, Quality, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Finance, Accounting, Contracts, and others. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with Department Management, Program Management and Program Finance personnel to accomplish the following tasks for the Common Hypersonic Glide Body program and across multiple programs on an as-needed basis.

Primary Responsibilities (including but are not limited to):

  • Monitor inventory levels, assess shortages for projects and ensure delivered hardware meets quality standards per contract requirements.
  • Work with different departments to place orders, verify hardware, manage requisitions, and determine expected delivery dates to inform Project Managers of potential delays.
  • Monitor schedules of ongoing projects and have material assigned for forecasted builds to boost productivity and prevent delays that can affect delivery.
  • Engages supply chain (vendor to manufacturing) to determine optimal acquisition strategy.
  • Ensure interdepartmental communication for improved coordination of productive operations.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers for updates on delivery timelines.
  • Compile, record and report project performance and progress to management and key stakeholders.
  • Actively manage the procurement process from the order placement through receipt of products and subsequent payment of invoices
  • Engage and manage suppliers to expedite all open orders.
  • Handles additional ad hoc tasks the supervisor assigns.

Basic Qualifications

- BA degree and 2 - 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience

- Excellent computer skills (excel/pivot tables and PowerPoint)

- Effective verbal and written communications skills.

- The ability to work under tough time constraints and prioritize multiple tasks

- U.S. Citizenship is required.

- Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one is required

-Working knowledge of customer flow through requirements such as AS9100, FAR, ITAR, OFFSET, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and public law

Preferred Qualifications

-Deltek Costpoint experience

-Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical application of strategies to programs

-Subcontracts/Procurement Experience

-Supplier relationship management experience

-PowerBI experience

-Previous mechanical or electronic manufacturing environment experience a plus

Pay Range:

Pay Range $49,400.00 - $89,300.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
