Description
Leidos is looking for a Linux System Engineer to join a dynamic Customer team supporting large, complex and secure environments. This position is located in the Northern Virginia area and requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph in order to be considered.
Primary responsibilities include:
- All aspects of the product development life cycle - creating, implementing, and supporting new product features and capabilities;
- Improving data processing methods; monitoring and tracking system performance via metrics; managing system access control and security; and systems support including maintenance items such as patching.
- The Linux Systems Engineer will establish and maintain pre-production environments and will assist in developing and implementing a plan to migrate existing applications from the physical server infrastructure to the enterprise level C2S platform.
- They will also be responsible for helping to support hundreds of Linux/UNIX machines, VMWare hosts, and EC2 instances in a hybrid computing environment.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a TS/SCI with poly to be considered
- Must have a Bachelor's degree and minimum 8 years' experience or 12 years' experience in lieu of degree
- Demonstrated experience with Linux system administration and engineering
- Demonstrated experience with Linux system patching
- Experience with Linux CentOS 7, Red Hat 7 and/or Scientific Linux 5 (SL5), CentOS8, Red Hat 8
- Demonstrated experience managing backup and recovery and systems and data.
- Demonstrated experience with configuration build support and documentation
- Experience working with and configuration of encryption
- Experience working with security team to fix and mitigate vulnerabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and/or experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware and/or other virtualization platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options and identify viable solutions.
- Scripting experience
- Experience with security standards, processes and tools
- Experience working with JIRA

Pay Range:
Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
