Leidos is seeking a talented, passionate, and detail-oriented intern to join our team as an Innovation & Automation Software Development Intern. Leidos Team currently provides design, programming, and implementation expertise for the DHMSM Program and needs creative talent to assist with reporting automation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in utilizing Power BI and other tools to analyze complex datasets and transform them into insightful visualizations and reports.

OVERVIEW

The internship will provide direct support to Operations leadership in the development of key metrics, data assurance, data optimization projects and process documentation. In this role, you will track, report, and analyze the key metrics and participate in/lead conversations around data analytics and reporting. In addition, you will perform a combination of research, gathering internal customer requirements, developing and confirming designs with the internal customers, and then implementing these designs. In this role, you will collaborate with the DHMSM Program Leidos PMO to get the work done. Please note, that you must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data for various reports.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy and relevance of reports.
  • Help develop and maintain reporting processes to track key metrics and performance indicators.
  • Document existing business processes and procedures for clarity and reference.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand process workflows and identify areas for improvement.
  • Update and maintain process documentation as needed to reflect changes and enhancements.
  • Analyze metrics and data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for optimization.
  • Present findings and insights to stakeholders through reports, presentations, or visualizations.
  • Work with the team to develop strategies based on data-driven insights to improve business performance.
  • Effectively communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project scopes, and implement solutions.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Take initiative and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.

BASICS QUALIFICATIONS:

  • US Citizenship Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program at the Junior/Senior level, or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field at an accredited college/university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
  • Familiarity with data querying languages such as SQL for extracting and manipulating data from databases.
  • Knowledge of process documentation tools such as Microsoft Visio or Lucidchart.
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis techniques to interpret metrics and identify trends.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software and technologies quickly.
  • Basic understanding of programming languages like Python or R for data manipulation and analysis tasks.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies for project management and process improvement initiatives.
  • Possess a high attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in tasks.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex information clearly.
  • Exhibit self-starter qualities, taking initiative to identify and solve problems proactively.
  • Display high levels of motivation and enthusiasm for learning and contributing to the team.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and environments, thriving in a fast-paced work setting.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Must currently be pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or System Engineering.
  • The candidate must have at least two-years of academic or professional software development experience in a modern software development language (such as Java, .NET, Python, etc....)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with NLP and ML concepts.
  • Understanding of JavaScript
  • Familiarity with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL

Pay Range:

Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
