The National Security Sector within Leidos is seeking a back-end Software Developer with strong systems, software, cloud, and Agile experience to support a complex program to provide Agile development and operations and maintenance for critical systems on a mission-critical program supporting the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States. Leidos is looking for a software engineer that can develop code and help troubleshoot issues arising from working with the different teams. Ideally, this individual will work independently and with other members of the Biometrics team in design, develop solutions and creating test cases for new development, as well as supporting deployment of the software to the production environment to ensure that all systems are working properly. This position also requires an individual to support testing with all of the client application teams as part of the testing phase of the new developed code. In addition, this person must be available to support issues or concerns associated with the travelers if the need ever arrives. This includes participating in on-call rotation over evenings, holidays and weekends if it is needed. On rare occasions, be willing to support the contract in evening, weekend, and holidays is ever needed.

In this hands-on position, you will work collaboratively to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines, and other resource constraints. You will participate in and/or direct major deliverable of projects through all aspects of the software development life cycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing.
This position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn & Lorton, VA, twice a month (or as often as necessary)
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree and 12 years of related experience or Master's with 10 years of related experience; OR 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree
- 8 years of experience with at least 3 of the following: Springboot, Java, AWS JSON, Postgres, XML, Junit Tests, Kubernetes, Maven, SQL, Active MQ, Eclipse
- Experience with at least 3 of the following: Harness, Gitlab, Confluence, Jira, Agile development
- 3 years' experience developing cloud ready applications and/or experience migrating applications to the cloud
- 2+ years experience with Microservices/RESTful APIs
- Proficient in JAVA and JavaScript
- Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start
- Must be a US citizen
- Experience in Troubleshooting problems
- Good Customer interaction and communication including working with other teams to develop requirements
- Good communication skills including documentation and ticket resolution
- Can work with a team or independently
- Looking into logs to determine cause of issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DHS BI clearance
- Develop test cases for testers to use during the testing phase
- Experience with Google Cloud

Pay Range:
Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
