The Leidos National Security Sector currently has an opening for an Electrical Technician at the Leidos-Pittsburgh facility. Leidos Pittsburgh, Cage Code 1N0X4 is the "original equipment manufacturer" (OEM) for the US NAVY's Surface ship Solid Waste Equipment, the LPD 17 class Oily Polishers and the Submarine Chlorinators/Dechlorinators. The facility recently became ISO 9001:2015 certified. The selected candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting equipment builds for new construction hulls, providing spare parts, troubleshooting, testing, training other team members, and development/evaluation of new product lines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Functioning in an electrical environment rated below 600VAC in the following areas:
  • Control Systems. Enclosure/panel assembly and wiring, especially HMI and PLC controls.
  • Power Systems. Power quality, medium voltage components with sensitivity to ratings, specification, size and operational characteristics.
  • Equipment Testing. Knowledgeable working with 480VAC, 120VAC and 24 VDC circuits; electrical components such as transformers, relays, switches, current sensors, motor starters, and meters. Able to understand and complete factory acceptance test procedures.
  • Field Support. Working in the field to install, start up, troubleshoot and test equipment to assure proper functioning
  • Mechanical Assembly Skills. Familiarity with small hand tools
  • Soldering Capability. Connector and component assembly
  • Pneumatics Understanding of solenoids, actuators and testing.
  • Initial training under current lead electrical technician to move into lead role upon his retirement. Training includes understanding electrical systems/instrumentation of Leidos Pittsburgh OEM products, understanding of Quality/ISO requirement for documentation, and the ability to service our facility's shop machinery.
  • Understanding electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical enclosure/panel fabrication detail drawings including bills -of-material, 4-20mA instrumentation, and PLC controls.
  • Follow build-to-print drawings for electrical panel fabrication and wiring, cable assembly fabrication, and electrical device assembly and wiring. Must be able to complete and document point-to-point testing.
  • Participate with engineering to establish realistic equipment delivery schedules and provide direction/support to fellow technicians. Ability to multi-task and meet/exceed delivery dates is a must.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established Shop operating procedures and practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology and/or Registered Electrician or 5+ years of directly related experience.
  • Past exposure to and experience with electrical drawings and industry practice and standards is a must.
  • Experience and knowledge of electrical-mechanical equipment's wiring, installation, repair troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Willingness to work side-by-side with other technicians and customers as required to complete project and provide clear explanation of task performed - both working independently and/or in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel and clear screening processes allowing access to US Navy facilities and to work onboard US Navy vessels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the US Navy or at US military facilities/shipyards is a plus, other industrial plant experience also considered.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
