Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor to aid in the oversight of a team responsible for developing construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards. This role will require leading other distribution engineers, oversight and QAQC of both simple and complex engineering projects, working directly with clients, and ensuring the Leidos reputation of high quality is maintained.

As a Distribution Engineering Supervisor, You can expect to:

  • Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams. This will include work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects, using customer GIS and Work Management systems
  • Assist with supervision of design staff and QA/QC efforts for your team
  • Collaborate with other design leads on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality control
  • Review engineering design packages with clients; Perform functional tasks, planning, and/or customer follow-up
  • Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities
  • Oversee your team's engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
  • Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW application
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and client design standards have been met.

What Sets you Apart (Background Requirements):

  • A minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing design engineering for electric distribution is required
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited educational institution; Additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of engineering bachelor's degree
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
  • Prior experience with structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations.
  • Ability to provide your own reliable transportation, as some local, customer-related travel may be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates); This role is hybrid in nature, with a few days per week spent in our Atlanta office, and a few days will allow for remote work
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Reliability & Grid Design
  • Experience with DOT
  • Work management software and job estimating software.
  • A Formal or informal leadership role; Candidates with previous experience leading engineering personnel will be preferred

Pay Range:

Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
