Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineer for Third Party distribution engineering. This role will require previous experience with third party distribution projects and make ready engineering designs for electric utilities. You'll be working directly with clients to make sure that Leidos' reputation for high-quality work is always maintained.

As a Distribution Engineer, You can expect to:

  • Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers
  • Perform 3rd party make ready design and analysis; potentially work on capital/ reliability design (i.e. reconductor, voltage conversion, DG, FLISR, underground, etc. designs)
  • Execute QAQC tasks for your design team; You will play a role in quality reviews of your team's designs prior to submittals for client projects
  • Review engineering design packages with clients; Review and organize existing program work
  • Perform distribution design by creating construction sketches and producing bill of material for 3rd party design
  • Perform functional tasks, planning, and/or customer follow-up
  • Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities
  • Gain experience in coordinating conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications
  • Be comfortable in both a field and office setting; the role could possibly require some customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages

What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):

  • A minimum of 4 years of Relevant experience working with Third Party Make Ready Projects for electric utilities
  • Completed Associates Degree is minimum education requirement, technical or design field preferred
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
  • Experience with engineering design quality control
  • Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, Pole Foreman, etc)
  • Demonstrated Experience with development of civil & electrical packages associated with complex cable/conduit in dense urban environments; Experience working with US-based electric utilities either in a consulting environment or directly at a utility is required

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with STORMS software and GIS
  • Engineering Bachelor's degree may be preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Right-of-way applications and permitting
  • AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with consulting environment for electric utilities

Pay Range:

Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
