Description

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently pursuing an opportunity for a Data Scientist to work in Tampa, Florida. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Enterprise Development, Application, and Training (EDAT) mission. In this mission we are focused on providing innovative, data-driven solutions and enterprise architecture enhancements to enable seamless operations across USSOCOM's global network. The program emphasizes rapid development and deployment of technologies to enhance the mobility and readiness of Special Operations Forces (SOF) in both combat and non-combat scenarios. Key tasks include program management, application development, training support, and technology integration to maintain USSOCOM's operational edge. The EDAT program underscores agility and adaptability, ensuring SOF professionals have access to the information and tools they need to meet evolving mission requirements.

Primary Responsibilities.

  • Lead the analysis of complex datasets to extract actionable insights and support decision-making for mission-critical operations.
  • Design, develop, and deploy predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization tools to enhance program performance.
  • Develop and implement data strategies that align with EDAT program goals, ensuring compliance with DoD policies and security standards.
  • Establish and enforce data governance practices, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility across the program.
  • Utilize big data platforms and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) to process and analyze large datasets efficiently.
  • Integrate advanced analytics techniques, such as natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning, to address program challenges and opportunities.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including program managers, developers, and security teams, to define data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate data science workflows into DevSecOps pipelines and mission-critical applications.
  • Stay updated on emerging data science tools, technologies, and methodologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
  • Evaluate and integrate open-source and commercial tools to enhance analytics capabilities.
  • Prepare detailed reports and dashboards to communicate findings, trends, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Document data science processes, models, and tools to ensure transparency and repeatability.

Basic Qualifications.

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Must possess one of the following certifications, such as Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate.
  • Must possess a Top Secret (TS) clearance.
  • 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or related fields, with demonstrated expertise in solving complex problems.
  • Proven ability to lead data science projects in enterprise or government environments.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and Java, with proficiency in libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related disciplines is preferred.
  • Security certifications like CISSP or CompTIA Security+ are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with USSOCOM's operational requirements and the SOF Information Environment (SIE).
  • Previous experience working on DoD programs with strict compliance and data security requirements.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical methods, AI/ML frameworks, and techniques for processing classified and sensitive data.
  • Experience with integrating AI/ML solutions into operational environments and mission-critical applications.
  • Proficiency in managing and analyzing data on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with scalable data pipelines and workflows using tools like Apache Kafka or AWS Glue.
  • Proven ability to identify and recommend innovative data solutions to solve mission-critical challenges.
  • Experience mentoring junior data scientists and promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of DoD data security and privacy regulations, including NIST 800-53, DISA STIG, and RMF.
  • Familiarity with data encryption, access control, and other security measures for handling classified data.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
