Description
Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) is a U.S. Government program responsible to monitor, detect, analyze, mitigate, and respond to cyber threats and adversarial activity on the DHS Enterprise. The DHS NOSC has primary responsibility for monitoring and responding to security events and incidents detected at the Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) and Policy Enforcement Point (PEP) and is responsible for directing and coordinating detection and response activities performed by each Component SOC. Direction and coordination are achieved through a shared DHS incident tracking system and other means of coordination and communication.
The Monitoring and Analysis team provide 24x7 support across 4 different shifts. We have front half shifts (day and night) and back half shifts (day and night). The front half shift will work 12-hour shifts from Sunday - Tuesday and alternating Wednesdays. The back half shift will work 12-hour shifts from Thursday - Saturday and alternating Wednesdays. Candidates must have the ability to work non-core hours, if necessary.

Leidos seeks to hire a cybersecurity intern to gain familiarity with cyber operations processes, procedures, tools, frameworks, and methodologies. Duties include taking relevant cybersecurity training courses, attending mentoring sessions, assisting with writing/editing documentation, and performing research into relevant threats to the environment.
Primary Responsibilities.
- Complete assigned training/courses
- Conduct research and analysis on emerging cyber threats and technologies
- Work with assigned mentors on projects, documentation, and research
- Assist in the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in an IT or cybersecurity program
- Strong understanding of computer networks, security principles, and protocols
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, including vulnerability scanners, intrusion detection systems, and firewalls
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Solid speaking and writing skills for developing/presenting material to an audience in person or across collaboration tools such as Teams.
- US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance are required
Preferred Qualifications.
- At least one cybersecurity certification, e.g. Security+, CySA+, CEH, etc.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00
