Senior Software Developer Job Description

LEIDOS is in need of a software developer to work in a dynamic environment supporting operations, data analysis, and data visualization tools. The candidate will work closely with the principle engineer, chief architect, and product users to solve complex data-driven problems throughout the entire software development lifecycle of both existing and new applications.

The ideal candidate has the capacity to work both front and back-end portions of a software environment. The candidate will implement software testing, operations and maintenance (O&M), troubleshooting, system backup/restore, and software upgrades.

The candidate is expected to analyze and solve complex use case problems and adhere to well-established software design and development principles.

A strong candidate will be a self-starter and energized by the capability to learn and implement new skills across both software engineering and user domains.

This position is located in Chantilly, VA, requires an active TS/SCI, and a willingness to undergo a polygraph in order to be considered.

Mandatory

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Aeronautical Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in an object oriented language such as Java, C#/.NET
  • Experience working with relational databases
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating system environments
  • Experience with code repositories, such as Subversion and Git
  • Experience with UI/UX design and best practices, able to translate requirements into a clean and functional interface
  • Experience developing software for geospatial, air and space domains
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve both technical and non-technical issues
  • Able to research and adapt to unfamiliar technologies
  • Current/Active TS/SCI security clearance

Additional Desired Skills

  • Familiar with Visual Studio IDE
  • Windows Presentation Framework / XAML (or other UI framework)
  • Systems ToolKit (STK) components and desktop tools development
  • Experience developing within an Agile environment, Scrum in particular
  • Experience using continuous build systems such as Jenkins, Git, etc.
  • Experience writing and implementing unit tests
  • Experience developing and maintaining applications with VBA
  • MS Access database development

Salary range: $100,000 - $125,000 - $150,000
