Description

Leidos is seeking a Chief Software Engineer to support our growing Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) programs with proven outstanding leadership and client skills to lead numerous USV projects within the Leidos Maritime Systems Division. This work will be performed in our Arlington, VA location.

The chosen candidate will lead a diverse team of software engineers and provide the technical leadership to help direct the activities of Leidos and subcontractor personnel. The Chief Software Engineer will lead the technical team on Firm Fixed Price and Cost-Plus contracts: provide input to budgets, schedules, and work plans, and work with the Program Managers to ensure that contractual deliverables are completed and accepted on time and within the allocated budget.

Primary Responsibilities

• Be knowledgeable about contract technical requirements and provide direction to the program team that will result in a technical solution that meets the eventual user needs and is compliant with the contract requirements.

• Supports the Software Development Manager and Software Lead(s) to plan and provide technical guidance for the technical design and development effort.

• Works with the Software Development Manager, Software Lead(s), and Program Managers to recommend candidates for each technical position on the program with highly qualified personnel.

• Closely monitors all subcontracted efforts to ensure technical compliance and ensure no performance gaps exist between organizations.

• Track technical performance measures to assess design engineering performance against the contract.

• Select the development life cycle in collaboration with the Software Development Manger.

• Reviews the conduct of the functional analyses, and requirements analyses and flow-down below the subsystem levels.

• Reviews alternative design solutions.

• Reviews the conduct of trade studies.

• Ensures requirements are satisfied by an integrated and testable hardware/software solution.

• Supports verification of requirements and interfaces through analysis, simulation, or testing.

• Leads and participates in formal and informal reviews.

• Oversees the risk management process.

• Participates in internal program reviews.

Basic Qualifications

- Familiarity with the Agile software development process

- Familiarity Test Driven Development processes

- Familiarity with Java, C++, and Python

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field coupled with 15+ years related technical experience including

Preferred Qualifications:

Active Secret or above security clearance

SAFe certification as an Agilist or as a Program Consultant, certified Scrum Master, or similar certification would be beneficial to demonstrate experience in managing a Large-Scale Agile Development Environment.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $144,300.00 - $260,850.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
