The Office of Technology at Leidos has an opportunity for a Chief Architect (Engineering) working remote or at any of our locations. This is a dynamic role where you will be responsible for developing and owning Digital Engineering Architecture activities, creating and enforcing best development and operational practices, systems engineering needs, and the Leidos Capability Architecture for the Digital Engineering efforts. We're seeking a candidate with exceptional communication and collaboration skills, particularly in working with technical teams, including those who may have unconventional communication styles. The ideal candidate will be adept at building strong relationships with engineers and other technical professionals, facilitating clear and effective communication, and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.

Leidos is developing a vision for the next level of Digital Engineering that will revolutionize engineering by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge digital tools and methodologies, empowering our teams to innovate rapidly, optimize data-driven decisions, and deliver unparalleled solutions that define the future of technology. In this role the selected candidate will help lead and define that future. They will have an opportunity to be a part of multiple complex projects as a Digital Engineering coach and guide teams through adoption and implementation of Digital Engineering concepts. The person in this position will work effectively both as a team member and independently with open-ended or ambiguous goals as we forge the road ahead for the Leidos way of Digital Engineering.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing architecture and design to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Leading the development of prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions to validate innovative ideas and technologies before full-scale implementation.
  • Leading the design and development of scalable, reliable, and secure architecture solutions that meet current and future business requirements.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to development teams, architects, and other stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges and ensure architectural integrity.
  • Developing and maintaining the strategic technical vision for the organization in alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Establishing and enforcing architecture standards, principles, and policies across projects and teams to ensure consistency and quality in technical solutions.
  • Researching, evaluating, and recommending new technologies, tools, and frameworks that align with business needs and improve technical capabilities.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders (such as product managers, engineers, and executives) to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and drive consensus on architectural decisions.
  • Identifying and mitigating technical risks associated with projects and architectures, ensuring resilience and continuity of systems.
  • Mentoring and coaching technical teams and architects to foster skill development, innovation, and adherence to best practices in software design and architecture.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement in technical practices, processes, and methodologies across the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum active Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, preferably Systems Engineering and 12+ years of related experience in system architecture integration and/or engineering, or 10+ years with Master's degree.
  • Experience with System Architecture to capture and define ecosystems to include people, processes, and tools. Including the ability to produce working models.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and coordinate by phone, email, and in person with partners, suppliers, customers, management, and executive leadership.
  • Must have technical and working knowledge of Model-based Systems Engineering tools or certification from INCOSE or OMG for system architecture standards.
  • Must have experience working in both a development and operational environment.
  • Proficient with CAMEO or equivalent MBSE Modelling Tools

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
