Refinery Engineer Manager

We are looking for a hands-on well-rounded Refinery Engineer Manager to join our Kingsland GA team. Responsible for oversight of the maintenance department. This position is heavily Project Management based. You will assist, manage, and create projects and budget costs and direct, coordinate, and control the activities of the maintenance department and subcontractors as well as facility personnel assigned to various projects. Must be able to take a request and determine if it is within scope of project and budget, then modify, change, or add equipment for a system.  This position is 30-40% in plant and other 60-70% in office.

  • Assists Refinery GM in developing capital projects list for the facility and helps develop budget costs for such projects.
  • Provides engineering support to plant maintenance department on an as needed basis and coordinates planning of scheduled outage of major systems.
  • Provides engineering support for the design and development of capital projects and assists in obtaining necessary permits.
  • Coordinates the project activities at the plant level with all involved departments such as operation, Shipping and Receiving, management, maintenance, compliance and Health and Safety.
  • As a part of the project management, assures equipment & services procurement and compliance with all predetermined applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Oversight of maintenance department.

What does it take to work at Synergy?

  • Bachelor Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 5-7 years of Engineering experience in a plant/Industrial Environment.
  • 5-7 years of Project Management experience.
  • 3 years of Capital Projects experience preferred.
  • 3 years managing a team.
  • Working knowledge of various CAD programs.
  • Understanding of process instrumentation, piping, valves, pumps, material of construction, coating systems, fire detection and controls, material handling and building/structure maintenance.
  • Refinery experience preferred.
  • Distillation and Production experience is a plus!
  • Maintenance background is ideal.
  • Able to influence and communicate with all levels or the organization.
  • Computer savvy.
  • MS Office Suite – Word, Excel and Project.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, climb, stoop, work at heights, bend and stand for long periods.
