A Day In The Life
The Lead Data Scientist - Optimization plays a pivotal role in advancing The Friedkin Group's digital transformation through the Trailblazer initiative. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing mathematical models and algorithms to solve complex business problems. You should have a passion for mathematical problem solving and a drive to help us reach our ambitious goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations research, mathematics, and/or computer science. You should have experience with optimization techniques, such as linear programming, integer programming, and dynamic programming, as well as experience with developing and applying simulation models. Additionally, you should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

As a Lead Data Scientist-Optim you will:

  • Develop and implement mathematical models and algorithms to solve complex business problems.
  • Utilize optimization techniques such as linear programming, integer programming, and dynamic programming.
  • Develop and apply simulation models.
  • Develop and refine optimization models that enhance efficiency and effectiveness, influencing critical business decisions and supporting the strategic objectives of the Trailblazer initiative.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand their challenges and develop quantitative solutions that integrate seamlessly with their operations.
  • Conduct deep analyses of large datasets to discover trends and efficiencies, driving continuous improvements and innovations in business practices.
  • Continuously improve existing models by incorporating new data sources and updating methodologies based on the latest research and techniques.
  • Present complex model findings and strategic recommendations to senior management, ensuring alignment and informed decision-making.
  • Design models that are not only effective but also scalable and adaptable, preparing the organization for future challenges and opportunities.

What We Need From You

  • Master's Degree Computer Science, Statistics or Applied Mathematics or a related field Req or
  • PhD Computer Science, Statistics or Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • 5-7 years Experience in data science or a similar role.
  • Ability to apply common sense.
  • Certification of Professional Achievement in Data Sciences Preferred or
  • Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) Preferred

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.  While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day; and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices.  The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED

Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis).
