Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides support and mentorship to laboratory staff (direct and indirect reports) on professional or scientific topics.
  • Schedules staff and resources for achieving client deliverables.
  • Provides clear procedural and documentation training and expectations to staff members with an emphasis on quality and efficiency to deliver accurate data to clients.
  • Develops training materials and delivers training/mentorship of staff in relevant techniques, procedures and provides expert advice on training requirements. Delivers appropriate trainings for staff before scheduled activity.
  • Ensures staff compliance to policies and regulatory guidelines through completed trainings, assigned readings or other modes.
  • Drives process improvement initiatives and develops guidance on laboratory best practices when required.
  • Participates in monthly and annual revenue and cost reviews and forecasts revenue projections for applicable business unit. Evaluates financial/efficiency data for method validation and identifies potential issues and recommends solutions.
  • Assists in writing and review of reports, methods, protocols, and SOPs.
  • Informs Lead Scientist and/or Senior Management of any staff, procedural or site problems that may affect integrity of the data; has ownership in corrective action of problems independently.
  • Supports others in their duties to ensure all scheduled operational activities are completed on each given day by effective and concise communication with team members, and ability to listen and discuss ideas in an open and professional manner.
  • Provides client or regulatory tours and interacts with external clients on routine laboratory processes/topics.
  • Reviews work of others for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment. Implements an action plan for solving project or technical problems as they occur. Independently reviews scientific content, accuracy, and study validity in documents (e.g. analytical methods, protocols, reports) prior to sponsor review for all study types. May provide informal or formal review of data as applicable.
  • Performs leadership activities for staff recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance evaluation, improvement and/or disciplinary.

Minimum Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Method Validation
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of appropriate regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Advanced working knowledge of laboratory operations and intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable instrumentation and programs including knowledge of the LIMS system.
  • Knowledge of experimental design and ability to evaluate and interpret data.
  • Concise and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with the use of standard bioanalytical laboratory equipment (e.g., balances, pipettes, centrifuges) and maintenance needs.
  • Independent in problem identification and resolution.
  • Understands and helps staff with compliance to SOPs and other regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Knowledgeable on a variety of study types, analysis procedures and methodologies.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills.

Minimum Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related scientific field
