The Senior Manager - Facilities position is responsible for creating and maintaining facilities which meet internal and external customer requirements, regulatory requirements and good building and maintenance practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of 40 in-house personnel that provides maintenance, operation, repair, renovation, construction, and security for a 40 building research campus on 410 acres
  • Ensures facilities compliance with GMP, GLP, and federal/state regulations as applicable for the seven independent business groups/tenants conducting a wide variety of business in vivarium, laboratory, and administrative environments
  • Collaborates with departmental leaders throughout the campus to develop strategic growth plans for Facilities aspects of their operations.
  • Creates/implements capital improvement plans for both infrastructure and business growth projects. Delivers capital projects on time and on budget as the Facilities Lead overseeing the Facilities team, including project management
  • Manages a $17M annual operating budget including associated forecasting and planning to meet monthly/quarterly targets
  • Partners with Sourcing, Procurement, Finance, Environmental Health & Safety, Quality Assurance and all business groups to successfully deliver organizational goals
  • Initiates, plans and implements staff development programs. Develops department capabilities and resources to meet both present and future staffing needs.
  • Establish and implement communication process to formally interact with direct reports, extended staff, customers and senior management.
  • Prepare and deliver responses to QAU, clients and regulatory audits related to Facilities Management.
  • Ensure facility compliance with codes, regulatory requirements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs & P&Ps related to Facilities Management.
  • Tactically assigns resources (personnel, space, equipment), implements programs, and drives process improvement to assure financial and budget expectations are met.
  • Develops and manages departmental budgets.
  • Participate in annual tactical facility planning activities.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to oversee the management of key functions within Facilities Management. These key functions could be, but are not inclusive of, areas such as: trash removal, food service & vending, housekeeping, landscaping, lab support services, operation and maintenance, building engineering, project management, utility management, space allocation and move management and facilities architectural & engineering design.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelors of Science in Facilities Management or related field.
  • Experience may be substituted for education.
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) certification preferred.

Experience Required:

  • 10 years of facilities-related experience including 5 years supervisory experience in a facility management environment.
  • Experienced in leading and developing people.
  • Skilled in time management, planning and budgeting.
  • Ability to perform intermediate/advanced computer skills (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Visio, Minitab).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
