Position Summary:
This position will provide scientific expertise to Early Development Safety Assessment and standalone studies over a wide range of Immunology and Immunotoxicology-associated endpoints to support an enhanced solutions-based approach to Clients' requests. The responsibilities include providing technical input into assay design, troubleshooting problematic assays, and providing technical support and advice for immunoassay-associated study endpoints. They will also lead the development and validation of new cell-based and molecular-based immunoassay methods and dose analysis of cell- and gene therapy-based test articles in compliance with appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.
Education/Experience:
- Required: Master's degree in biotechnology, immunology, cell biology, toxicology, or relevant discipline area with 5+ years relevant cell-based experience
- Preferred: PhD in biotechnology, immunology, toxicology, cell biology or relevant discipline area
- Extensive experience with cell-based and molecular methods such as flow cytometry, ELISpot, primary and immortalized cell culture, in vitro proliferation and stimulation, DNA/RNA isolation and purification, and qPCR
- Experience in a GLP regulated laboratory environment preferred
- Prior experience in immunoassay method development and validation preferred.
Essential Duties:
- Efficient development and transfer of analytical methods for Immunology and Immunotoxicology, with a focus on cell based and molecular assays such as ELISpot, in vitro cell proliferation assays, PCR (qPCR, q/RT-PCR), primary and immortalized cell culture etc. Methods may also include Flow cytometry, Biomarker assays, Immunofluorescent microscopy, and Immunoassays (Ligand-binding/ELISA).
- This role also works with Study Directors (SD) and other Responsible Analysts (RA) on GLP studies as a main point of contact for analysts and clients, ensuring studies meet I&I assay-associated regulatory requirements and client deadlines.
- Help to obtain new business through client calls, sponsor meetings/inspections and attendance at relevant conferences.
- To conduct, supervise and monitor the development or improvement of analytical methods in compliance with appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Independently sets up, performs, and troubleshoots method development, validation, and production use of various assays in conjunction with other scientists.
- Understands and interprets complex protocols and validation plans and actively contributes with recommendations
- Collaborate in research and development for new assays and applications across global I&I
- Demonstrates knowledge of the appropriate regulatory guidelines
- Collaborates with clients to transfer methods into Global Immunology and Immunotoxicology laboratories.
- Maintains and performs routine and non-routine maintenance on general equipment, including problem identification and resolution.
- Alongside the supervisor, effectively plans and utilizes personnel and resources for timely completion of assigned projects
- Conducts and analyzes results from Immunotoxicology assays and proactively anticipates problems that may affect timings, quality etc., and act to resolve them.
- Assists in writing protocols for method development and validation work
