The SAS Administrator/Engineer will serve as an important member of LabCorp's Analytics team focused on supporting analytic server administration. This person is part of a team of application administrators and will be responsible for the administration and support of internal-facing SAS servers. Additionally, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting SAS developers/development, application integration and to end-user setup and administration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Administer SAS software and servers in 24x7 highly available production environment
- Manage effective operation of the SAS Analytics Environment
- Via SAS Management Console, control user access to various parts of the SAS system, granting permissions to read, write, create or view reports and data within the system - ensure that users see only the information that they are authorized to access
- Configure and manage all SAS product installations and upgrades
- Research and make recommendations on hardware and SAS software
- Maintain and execute disaster recovery procedures as needed
- Investigate, escalate, and resolve all SAS production support incidents in accordance with the Production Support Process
- Plans and manages software/hardware updates and upgrades; implements in a timely manner
- Resolves SAS and customer issues within the service level agreements
- Provides support to user community on various SAS Server and Desktop issues
- Document and publish SAS workbooks and data extracts / workflows/ apps/macros
- Work with SAS workflows to automate, optimizing efficiency and ease of use for process owners. Workflows may include: API calls to external data sources, external ODBC data sources, handling of errors and outlier cases, use of various macro types, potential Python coding
- Configure and manage project permissions; provides periodic reports on SAS and Server usage
- Proactively collects and monitors server and performance metrics, conducts performance tuning and capacity management
- Setup and maintain SAS configuration including, but not limited to : Gallery and security roles setup
- Make recommendations on server configuration and optimize for the enterprise.
- Able to parse and understand the logging generated by the Gallery Server and use that to analyze the performance of the server.
- Create and maintain documentation for SAS policies, procedures and best practices
- Interact with other internal departments such as database administrators, web technologies, Identity Management and outside consultants to deliver scalable and highly effective analytic solutions for the business
- Participate in and contribute to the implementation of best industry practices
- Work with IT and business users to resolve issues

Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science or an analytical discipline or equivalent experience
- Proven experience with SAS server administration
- 7+ years overall IT experience
- 3+ years SAS Administration preferably in a high availability architecture
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to lead system and application upgrades
- Proficient with troubleshooting techniques to determine root cause analysis and formulate solution recommendations
- Proficient in scripting skills such as Python or PowerShell
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Works under minimal supervision with a high degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity
- Willingness to learn new technologies at an accelerated pace
- Provides clear communication to senior management on issue identification and resolution
- Leverage in-depth business knowledge to translate complex business analysis and reporting requirements into technical designs
- Practical skills in deploying large scale environment processing millions of records per day in a high-availability environment
