The Phlebotomy Territory Manager will lead the phlebotomy operations strategy across their assigned territory within the Atlantic Division Diagnostics Segment. A successful candidate will collaborate closely with teams composed of internal stakeholders and outside vendors as needed, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the role. This position will be responsible for ensuring a large client base of physician offices and Patient Service Centers are maintained and serviced appropriately. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm, additional days and hours may be required to support a 24/7 operation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervises the activities of 100+ patient service technicians and oversees the operations of 5+ service centers within an assigned territory (Charleston, Savannah, Columbia and Augusta) and as well as any in office phlebotomists (IOP) within the territory
- Works closely with regional sales leader, general manager, laboratory directors, department managers to support operational services and large accounts to ensure the optimal operation of the phlebotomy department
- Resolve any client related matters or customer complaints appropriately
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients and clients
- Ensures that all policies and procedures are updated and implemented in each territory in compliance with state and federal regulations and company mandates
- Provides orientation, training, and performance evaluation of all patient services supervisors
- Responsible for coaching and mentoring supervisory staff as well as phlebotomy teams
- Ensures regular and timely completion of periodic inspections of patient service centers and patient service technicians
- Monitor monthly productivity and report any deviations as necessary
- Ensure patient flow, wait times, inventory levels are being properly maintained
- Complete regular and timely financial analyses for all department related positions
- Report any performance, compliance or staffing related issues and work with the appropriate departments toward resolution
- Perform operational duties such as payroll, monthly schedules and performance appraisals
- Manage costs effectively by minimizing employee turnover and controlling overtime costs
- Assist in the setup of new Patient Service Centers and/or client offices
- Perform, collect and prepare specimens when needed
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory regularly.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred
- Previous experience as a phlebotomist; 6 years is preferred
- 2+ years supervisory experience is required, preferably within the phlebotomy/healthcare industry
- Knowledge of phlebotomy duties, responsibilities and techniques
- Strong leadership skills and proven ability to manage and mentor a team
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be 21 years of age with valid driver's license and good driving record
- Proficient with MS Office programs
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory regularly
- Must be based in Charleston or Savannah area
