Hematology Technical Supervisor

The Mid-America Division of Labcorp is seeking a Hematology Technical Supervisor, located in Phoenix, AZ. This unique position requires a technical leader with strong problem-solving skills and technical expertise in Hematology, Blood Banking, Urinalysis, and Coagulation in addition to the people leadership skills to successfully manage a large, diverse work team. The Technical Supervisor will report to the Laboratory Manager and work directly with the Technical Director, Hematology Technical Consultant, Laboratory Manager and Site Director.

Schedule: First Shift, Monday - Friday start and end times will vary.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages technical staff to include hiring, training, competency, scheduling, timecards, reviews, promotions, disciplinary action, etc.
  • Overseeing the technical component of the laboratory to ensure that patient results are reported reliably, including reviewing AMR studies, instrument comparisons, validations, etc.
  • Working with the Technical Director to ensure accuracy for all testing in the lab, including instrument performance and identifying root causes when issues arise
  • Accurately responds to client inquires that are technical in nature and escalate, as needed
  • Effectively communicates with clients, physicians, nurses, and LabCorp staff and provides technical expertise, as needed
  • Projects credibility and builds rapport with medical doctors/LabCorp clients, providing quick/accurate responses to inquires
  • Assists in the review, interpretation, and reporting of complex and routine test results
  • Shares experiences and ideas on technical improvements
  • Adheres to laboratory policies and procedures
  • Assist with other special projects, as needed

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field with at five to seven years of laboratory experience
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and EP Evaluator
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Hematology Department along with strong knowledge of scientific concepts and effective clinical practices/procedures
  • Solid desire to learn and apply new scientific concepts that will speed the accomplishment of lab goals and objectives
  • Excellent technical and problem solving skills
  • Discretion in handling confidential information
  • Have demonstrated hands-on experience with laboratory procedures
  • Experience in a CLIA, CAP laboratory environment

Preferred:

  • MLS or MT (ASCP)
  • Familiarity with LCLS, LCWS, SIS, eAssist, and other Labcorp IT systems

The position requires the candidate to be extremely organized. Working to tight deadlines, flexibility in approach, exceptional communication skills, and attention to detail are essential.
